Crafting with event gleam & event balloons

@devs
Ok this might seem extremely trivial but I’m wondering why this happened.

I crafted balloons for a upcoming birthday & another event & wanted a variety of colors
I used 5 diff colors event gleam I did do a bulk craft as I dont have many of either event items to make mass.

When I went to get them out of refinery they all came out one of the colors of gleam.
Warm red & it was just in the stack, actually had a black gleam in there too lol.

So how was warm red the chosen gleam & why?
Tyvm for your time.:hugs:
Guess now I use warm red lol.

The red gleam must’ve been the first in a smart stack or the one you had most of

Actually it wasnt I had them all sep, the red & black were in middle lol. Black first then red & another color last.:yum:

Can you show a screenshot of how they were arranged?

Yea I wasted gleam when I did that would think it would make all colors but with the reduction in mats needed for the mass craft how would it know. The only way I can think of is make the mats scale back like they do already but dnt scale back the item that determines the color. That way it has something to reference to when it crafts the item.

I, too, never understood how the machines pick colors be it for rocks, wood, or gleam. Had this happen to me a few times so i resorted to crafting the colors separately. A hassle but gives guaranteed results. I even remember one time seeing 1 color in the machine queue but when it was done, it gave another color (i had like a few pieces of different color to complete number required to craft).

Machines prioritise materials that are in their machine storage area first, then I believe it goes from top left to bottom right of your inventory.

Prehaps this rule is why they turned out one colour?

Sorry didnt think to ss & 3 of the gleam were event & I had 1 each.

But I also have had to learn from past refining mistakes so each gleam was separate & there was nothing in my inventory.

Honestly I would have thought black would have overrode red but it didnt & at least all 5 are the warm red event gleam so guess that’s somewhat a plus lol

Guess this could be tried on gleam lanterns etc to see if others would get then happy accidents.:yum:

It’s not really an accident. When doing a craft result is never a smart stack of different colours. But the logic which one is picked baffles me sometimes, my tests don’t get consistent results, so I can only assume it’s totally random which colour is picked.

Doing a refined gleam bulk craft with these sometimes results in green, sometimes blue, sometimes lilac and sometimes even the weary violet.

edit: After playing around with it a bit more I noticed that the preview in the crafting queue doesn’t always match the output… This is confusing.

It’s just bad mechanics the mats reduction in single, bulk, mass, crafts work fine except when it comes to the player choosing a color they want to make. Then the proportions are not accurate and it just chooses 1 color to out put.
To fix this cleanly would have to alter 2 things.
*always make the color mat consistent across each crafting amount. But allow the other mats to scale back as normal.
*fix the mechanics of the machines so they output what the user inputs instead of a random selection of just 1 of the many colors the player inputs.

Ah, I think I understand this more now. Using the example with the screenshot provided by @Mayumichi, the game will craft items in one colour for bulk and mass crafting. It looks like the game doesn’t take a range of colours into account, so if you were hoping to craft different colours of refined gleam all at once for example, the game will just pick one of those colours, so you will not get the the different colours of refined gleam, as they will be lost.

I’ll add a note to the database about this. In the meantime, as some of you have already mentioned, the workaround would be to only have one colour of the item in your inventory each time before crafting, in order to avoid the different colours of items being lost to crafting this way.

Baffled me too as red & black were not first in order actually pale sepia gleam was.
I had them all separated so no idea how was picked🤗
