Curious about your methods

So I’m mostly enjoying the game at my own pace and only recently just acquired some power coils on my own, which for me is a huge accomplishment. All this time around though, especially seeing other people’s builds and machines within some of them, it made me curious at to how did some of you guys manage to set that all up in such a short period of time.

Personally, how did you guys go about it? What did you do, especially the first few hours or days into the game? I’m not necessarily looking for a guide (although this might as well be) but more of the stories you can share and how this all came about.

I grew naturaly into the game. Mined and gathered on worlds I felt strong enough for, raised my crafting skills slowly and allways had some test craftings on what new stuff I could make and explored some planets to see what the worlds have to offer.

Later I made an alt character for crafting to focus more on hunting and gathering with my main character. The alt is now lvl ~20 (just by crafting) while my main is ~35 and now hunting on Tier 4 worlds while he is able to gahter and mine on Tier 5 (Tier 6 as well, but those blocks need soooo much time to be broken ^^). I tried some technics like Bomb Mining and also lerned how to use grapples (and double grapples which can be much fun ^^).

I still have no power coils, but 5 advanced for the bench are nearly in reach (I will use the machine of our guild to make them, so I can skip the step of making basic ones before ^^). I also have set up a shop for building mats with a friend which runs ok (not well, but as we offer stuff we gathered anyways (stone and wood blocks which we refine before) it’s more a hobby then a serious business

The first hours were enjoying the process of being able to do more and more … I never felt pressed to have to to something so I just did what I wanted to - just feeling … boundless :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Remember that there are a significant amount of people that started in August, and not on the release in September.

First of all good job getting some coils on your own. I know a lot of people moved in groups which made the whole process of grinding and farming way easier.

I tried to play solo but at one point the coin cost to bounce planets was hurting my soul and the back and forth grind just for simple silver was getting to be far too time consuming to do with my schedule. Personally if it weren’t for portals popping up in the first 24 hours I may be where Birne is and just now be acquiring my first coils.

I joined some friends and we created a small community which allowed us all to share each others efforts and thus advancing most of us 10x further than a solo player. Not much of a story but its how with only a couple hours a day to play I am not way behind and struggling to make ends meat.

I personally wrote out a plan on how to progress before the early access headstart. Now that plan is done I’m actually lost on what to do next. We are actually neighbours and I think you are progressing really well. Your town so far is very well done and your very talented at building. That bear sculpture is epic. Unless your a different raibear and the name is just a coincidence.

I also solo’d but I was definitely not playing casually. I burned myself out pretty quick. Keep doing what your doing and continue enjoying at your own pace.

Goal 1, Set up a quick base and get to higher tier worlds asap for resources.
Goal 2, Set up a portal near or in the network
Goal 3, Set up a shop to make good coin.
Goal 4, Do the slow painfull gem grind.
Goal 5, Powercoils
Goal 6, Forge with coils

Goal 4 and 5 is very rough and if your not into that sort of mining than ya its going to be pretty bad. Since my shop did very well, I bought most of my coils. Just enough to craft.

Im one of the Early Access folks too, so I am still wondering how everyone even got to the coils within the week~

Friends  And have everyone specialize in a specific thing. Have a hunter, have a miner, have a crafter, have a forger, etc.

Well, weeks for many, but some (to be named: The Portal Seekers) had established a portal network (which needs coils to be made) within the first 48h if I remember right ^^ … Joint efforts is the key word here

Oh yeah, hello neighbor! Your place is awesome too, I found myself wandering there from time to time just to admire the build~ And thanks <3

And i see, that was one of the things I was looking for. People who’ve played the game extensively during early access obviously have more knowledge of how the game goes and I was really curious at what goals and benchmarks they have to get there as fast as possible.

I just find it really interesting, and while I’m in no rush, I will definitely keep some of the stuff here in mind.

And also i just got some of my friends to play, I hope they stick around and hopefully together we can advance even just a wee bit faster xD

There is a big difference between player who just started (even a day after last wipe) and the one who play the game still since years.
They know whats to do, but in the first place they needed same time as we need now.
But now they are way faster.

I’m new since first day the new server lives and i’m Level 37 and just started now a second Char because i figured, it is way easier to have a Crafter Alt and my Main who is Exploring.
The progress i have now had the veterans after 2-3 days i think.

Actually i would say laser focus they had on progression back to were they were before the wipe is the key here.
I clocked 200 hours already since wipe with multiple parallel alts but because i had so much fun with different things, figuring out stuff, etc. i just recently started mining gems. Didn’t need it that bad earlier/had other stuff to play with.

Good job getting those power coils that can be a real challenge. I started with the head start and I haven’t crafted any yet. I am slow. lol

I think for me, it’s mostly not going all Freddy Mercury on the game, but realizing after about 2 days that the higher tier journal entries, and all the fancy high level gear and workbenches are something I actually don’t need at the moment.

I’m having a lot more fun since that realization.

Well done on the power coils, I’ve not crafted any yet, in fact I’ve only just managed to find a few diamonds so far. I’ve spent most of my time planet hoping and exploring and gradually accumulating resources I find along the way. I have been looking for a specific spot to build my base/home but in the end I’ve realised I’m actually quite happy with the spot I initially picked just outside of The Sunken City on a small island. I’ve now started to concentrate on actually building my home rather than just having a storage unit to return too. My main is a level 30 explorer/gatherer and my alt is a level 20 crafter.

I’m an early access player, been with the tour since 2014 or earlier (I dunno how far back, certainly pre-Steam when there was one server/planet and everything ran from the browser on my Ubuntu laptop). I’ve been playing every reasonable waking hour not spent at work or on family things (about 200 hours since the 1.0 wipe). My hunter-gatherer-miner main is about to hit level 25 and my crafter is approaching level 15. I have yet to see a gem in the wild, or gold or titanium seams.

Why?

I’ve seen things. Wonderful things, frightening things, sometimes uninspiring things. I have wandered the planets and marvelled at the tall mesquite trees of Kada I, the pendulous gleam trees of Delta Cancris, the wild west saguaro of Cephonex Merika. I have died under an onslaught of strong spitters and cuttletrunks, I have leisurely swum the canals of Bitula, and I have reaped Oortian Staff in the deserts of Lamblis. I have mined for miles underground looking for coal and precious objects, and I have spelunked vast caverns and tiny wormholes in search of treasures. At home I have built a tower topped by a spire of red and white gleam so I can look up after my travels and say “ah, there it is, I’m coming home again.”

Why am I only at lowly levels when others of my cohort have seemingly done so much? Because to me, the game is the journey itself. I was at the end game at level one, and it only got better from there. Eventually, I will have soloed the power coils my crafter wants. It will feel good.

Don’t feel bad if you’re not a leet master of creation. Play it your way. There’s enough to go around. It’s all good.

Even in pre-release I never felt a great urge to obtain power-coils. I got (bought) them in the end just to speed up crafting, for the most part.
I’m waiting till advanced coils go down to a reasonable price (for me) as they don’t really add to anything I need at the mo.
Finding I can grind enough mats to get my current build (and shop) going nicely and that’s all I’m interested in currently.
I do tip my hat though to peeps who can get the whole coil set-up going though…hard work. And the whole set up can look very impressive in peeps workshops.

That’s exactly what I’ve been doing too  (except the tower) … have you ever wandered through a field of purple flowers on a cliff top overlooking a deep canyon gorge to suddenly realise you’re not alone … just in front hidden in the flowers you come across a stout Spitter …It spots you and starts firing, you dodge only to find you’re being shot at from two other directions …you’re surrounded …not one or two or even three, but a pack of four stout spitters encircle you …fight or flight …you’re in their killing field … you gota love Bitula

What is the easiest way to get to higher tier worlds? I have been searching for a good plan but am a noob

Find a portal hub network and explore, you will work out the worlds and routes as you get familiar with the layouts.

Is it guaranteed that I will have a portal hub network on my world? I went to the capital and saw a few portals, so maybe I will just take the plunge and see where I go.
