This is the justification that’s tossed around now, but the truth is that this trend started before launch.
Scheduled Weekly Updates became biweekly… and then monthly… and then random. The funny part was that they still had “Weekly Update” attached to the names of the posts, even though they might be 5-6 weeks apart.
