Decouple hunger and energy

So I know a lot of people avoid increasing their energy pool right now because more energy means having to munch on an increasingly absurd number of steaks to keep your energy bar topped off. This doesn’t feel right to me. I think it would be better to eliminate that penalty.

What if instead, hunger was tracked as a separate value from energy, starting at zero and going up to 100. So food would fill you up at the same rate no matter what your energy level (obviously the hunger restored by food would be rebalanced to match the 100 point range).

Your max energy would be lowered as a percentage of your hunger level, so it stays basically the same as before. The only difference is now hunger always restores at the same rate, regardless of your energy pool size.

I like how hunger causes your max energy to be lower, it forces you to decide when to use your food and whether or not you should save it until it lowers more. Also, I think that decoupling it from max energy would make the well fed buffs (or whatever they’re called) less valuable.

the max fed is pretty useless as it is. all it does is stop total energy depleting when your hungry. Not a buff that worth it.would make a lot more sense that the fed buff increased your energy ticks or something usefull

My intent was to keep that feature, I edited my post to make it a little clearer. Only difference is supposed to be that it takes the same amount of food to fill you up no matter what your energy stat is (terminology is a little confusing…)

I disagree. Well fed is quite nice to have cause I don’t have to care about hunger at all without having to eat something every 1-2 minutes.
Also this ensure i have full energy bar all the time.

For me current mechanics are good.

I’m fine with hunger but energy is not a fun mechanic at all.
All it does is force you to pause your game frequently. It’s anti fun.
Mechanics that make you not play the game are bad mechanics. (Except in Art games maybe.)

I agree. the only thing that makes the game feel grindy to me is the energy, it takes to long to start generating after your last action and no perks help. There is no way in the game to make energy work for you be it food or brews or perks. As someone with limited game time spending 90% of it farming is becoming unappealing, it’s nearly like i log into the game to work after my real work. Don;t mind farming at all but the energy makes it very grindy and is a big turn off for me to open the game up sometimes.

Disagree, it is useful and I like it

useful how? make hunger it’s own thing that ticks down over time and needs a meal to replen not part of the energy system which already is broken. Like every hunger system in every survival game currently out there. 3-5seconds after last action for regen to start regardless of perks or buffs is annoying as all hell.

veto:no, please let it like it is

with some points in energy and energy epic its 1 second wait -> full for a minute of spamming hammer or so

Instead of adding or changing bar, I would like to see this energy issues fixed way that foods giving flat number + percentage based on energy pool to max energy when eating stuff.
So that players who have invested to skills that increase energy wouldn’t feel so penalized and would current issue with regaining energy.

it’s 3-5 seconds after last action for stamina regen to kick in even with epic. That 3-5 seconds is one of the things wrong with the currently energy. drop it to 1second after last action maybe.

This should be fixed now

Get the energy epic… full bar bnb in one tick no other points to energy needed…

I agree with this idea ONLY because we do not have an equal sleep/rest meter. Being well fed is part of having a lot of energy and being at the peak of your game. But why do we not have to rest for 6-8 hours a day to gain a “well rested” perk as well? I have had no problem with the food/energy issue and find that since its based on a % of the amount of energy you expend its pretty fair to require more food with higher stamina levels. Bodybuilders eat 5000 calories plus a day to stay their size. But…

I agree and find that this is only useful if your going to add in a PvP system because without it there is no reason for us to pause and utilize this “stamina” correctly. I mean whats the point of having tools use different energy amounts without a need for strategy? You could easily remove it and slow down seemingly OP tools.

Looking from another angle it does give you a chance to stop and eat (and in real like maybe take a drink), maybe even look away from your screen which is recommended you do 15 minutes for every hour in front of your screen. How many of us would lock eyes with our swinging hammer for solid hours if not required to pause for a brief moment?

Edit: Not endorsing PvP by the way, games fine without it but I wouldn’t say no.

it takes 3-5 seconds after last action for regen to kick in. thats the issue. not the regen speed or amount but the actual time it takes to kick in.

You’ve obviously have never worked a blue-collar union job. We need those breaks or there will be hell to pay with OSHA.
