Ah no prob no prob, i was just confused xD
Will Oort Online be free to play?
Buy to play.
Still no Q&A video?
How many months the game will continue without characters since the release of alpha at steam?
Cool idea and i agree, this battle will be more epicâŚ
You mean Pre-Alpha release? 'Cause thatâs where we are now. Alpha is planned for Q3 this year (according to steam store page) and I suspect player models will be making an appearance before or at the time OO goes to Alpha.
Yep i meant prototype, i think this game was released on steam in 2014, am i right?
So, if iâm right, is a lot of time without charactersâŚand iâm wondering how many time more, will continue in this statusâŚ
so if will continue for more few months, iâll must to wait untill release them
Something you might not know is the fact that it wasnât âHey, we have a cool game letâs put it on steam because we have so much to show already.â but rather âHey, the community wants to buy and play it via steam, so letâs put it on steam.â Therefore it isnât long at all without characters.

I think released is the wrong word, it was rather kickstarted/crowdfunded.

You should probably not expect a fully developed race system coming along with the first implementation. I think we will just get the model for now and maybe some basic placeholder for the racial traits but I think it´s still a long way ahead before we will see several races with different abilities.
Well the best response you gave me, and is this matter that i want to know, when the 1st race, not the entire races, will be allowed in game, i love the proposal of this game, but i dont like to play with a cube as character or play in 1st person view, this is the reason i never played minecraft, and the only game that characters not will be a cube is this.
well i think i must wait a several long time to play this game, back to everquest landmark
im kinda new to the forums, but i backed this around 8-9 months ago, so i dont know if this has been asked, but will there be ONLY multiplayer, or will there be single player and/or lan that you can just mess around and not have an impact on the world-wide communityâs enviornment?
There will be private and modable servers
The system that is planed is as follows if I remember correctly:
- the universe we all play together in an MMO, that includes some private servers which meet certain standards so you canât cheat things via worldbuilder.
- there are privat networks that do not connect to the MMO just for a private community to play on/with. That also includes single private worlds.
edit: the plan atm is that you can only rent servers to set up a world.
fellow oortians, correct me please if I forgot something^^
partially, remember you have to rent servers though, i am not sure they have responded on player hosted servers atm. also you make it sound like minecraft where you can play alone by just hosting a game, dont think it is like that.
There is no Offline mode though, so that is one thing, which prob also means that there is no LAN mode (almost no game uses this anymore)
they said they might do offline versions but itâs not on the todo list atm^^
But yea everything goes with rented servers atm
I think we made them promise to at least release private server hosting before the close their own servers, (Hopefully a lot of years into the future)
Very old discussion on the old forum.
Honestly never saw that one, so i cannot confirm nor deny it.
but to me even though they have explained what they are goign to do it still seems confusing and like they dont know precisely either how they want it. Rented servers are pretty clear, but private server hosting seems a bit wonky, and in my eyes why would anybody pay for a rented server if they can just host one themselves? because the rented servers can be tied to the main game?
this entire thing is not something i am greatly interested in, because i am prob only going to play on official servers.
Private server should only be able to connect to other private servers that have given permission so they can make their own network. It is mostly to make sure that people can still play when it doesnât pay of for the devs to run the servers anymore.
- More information on the job system you guys showed a long time ago.
