I don’t build for coin or anything I just build because I want to. I also don’t purely build. I like to do all kinds of things. (hence hunting, crafting, etc in my other post)
Creative may be a great spot for pure builders, idk.
Rental planets would be amazing for building especially if plot amount wasn’t as restricted as it is currently.
Man I still want to do what he does and i still can’t. It’s hard logging in every day with such high expectations placed upon myself… but I keep telling myself “practise makes perfect”
Absolutely it is a contributing factor… but sure, give them the levels, the plots and the materials for free on day 1… and do you think they will finish that build or just give up eventually?
Are you sure about that? There is a lot of steps to doing this and you do not make quality YouTube videos by just deciding to do so. I played this game ALOT and I found making YouTubes was just too much for me to learn to do it well and it turns out i didnt have fun doing them either so I quit trying.
We need creative coming fast after the sovereign worlds maybe.
To get all those free builders to play there and present the beauty of Boundless to more and more people.
Then some of those people might like the actual game where you need to progress to build big, but then there are other things to do in game that are as fun as building.
Basically - when both creative and current mmo modes exist together, they might feed each other.
@the-moebius is echoing basically every point I was trying to make with my Megamall example. The fact is that you shouldn’t HAVE to get a rental to compete with the big builds in this game. That’s why so many of us are against unlimited plots if it connects to the live universe. The issue is that while some people, see it as simply wanting those plots to build what they want. But others of us see it as a way to draw footfall away from the public universe. Your megabuilds will be where everyone wants to hangout because the cooler the build the more people will go to it. Someone shouldn’t HAVE to rent a planet to compete with something like that. That’s why rentals are supposed to conform with the rules of the main universe as much as possible. Because if you’re just given no plotting restrictions it gives you a building advantage that can up your FF and take it away from public builds, since, again, it’s unachievable without 10s of thousands of dollars or years of grinding.
I think an issue could be with experience in general then? Maybe xp gains need to be tweaked?
Off topic but hunting could earn a lot more exp (group hunts specifically).
Edit: because if gaining plots is an issue, and that issue could effect gaining plots for private planets. Then why only fix the issue for private planets and not just fix it for everyone
The way I see it. We were all new players once. You know what we did, we played, we endured, and we overcome. We worked for what we have. Me personally feel great gratification from the effort I put in.
No you do not give them everything then it is creative mode, but where is the balance between the two? This is a Sandbox MMO and not just an MMO Are we skewed to far towards grind and making the game unattractive and hence have few players staying in the game?
I know I exaggerate to try and make my point… ask @georgegroeg
But is the lack of plots on day 1 or day 10 or day 27 truly the issue? Or is it something more than that? You know what I’m saying? I have no problems with making things easier. But try cure the real problem not just put bandaids on the symptoms.
i think problem is this game is not in same state as minecraft where you can actually choose survival or creative or whatever. so people dont rly know what kinda gamemode they are playing…
theres just one “mode”… i dont think this game needs even other modes… but thats not my thing to decide. there s several things i would like to take away from this game and viceversa.
I think it is not a day one issue (although I do think the tutorial needs work because I feel players are too unprepared). I think it is how long the progression takes. If a player wants to come in day one and build like @Apt then this not the right game for them. They need a creative mode game. I just think the curve is too steep and if it stays either the majority of players will end up in a creative universe when it happens or the game never gets the traction and popularity it deserves. We never get new permanent planets because the players base never grows in the permanent universe in either case. That would be a real shame. We need a universe with 1000 permanent planets so there are not more rentals than permanent.
