Do we need a wipe?

Think it’s funny this is still open. Especially since this was said to someone who can close threads.

Him and havok are players and aren’t always around.

Tho he responded right after that

Actually since we have fewer active players than when the game launched we could end up with fewer planets. This according to steam charts and boundless ninja. Might be we are not retaining enough players to justify 50 planets.

But because I have not said it this time but every other time

Bringing politics, especially meme politics that were pushed on Facebook by Russia during the 2016 election cycle, might not be the best idea.

Definitely not.
Isn’t the whole point of beacons to allow plots to expire and regen if they’re old and unused?
Minecraft servers get wiped because there is no natural regen, we don’t have that issue

Just talking about this is making me horribly anxious lol

For me it would be the perfect opportunity to try some new games, I couldn’t bare the thought of starting from scratch all over again. It would feel like hundreds of hours just wasted overnight… even if I couldn’t resist trying again I probably wouldn’t really bother building anything because I’d know it would be a waste of time … at least it would save a few points in the chiseling epic …but then if I’m not really going to build anything then I probably wouldn’t really stick around for long anyway… if there was a wipe but we kept our levels and alts etc then I expect what would probably happen is those with thousands of plots and more time on their hands than others would simply run around mapping all the planets then beacon all the best resource spots so even more reason for me to move on.

Never read anything after the first 10 replies in this post… but to be honest, a universe wipe and i’m done. I’ve enjoyed gathering the hoard of items I have and not interested in a fresh start, I wouldn’t enjoy a redo. I’d just jump back in to NoMansSky and pick up where I was there.

Maybe it came across wrong, but I am not trying to have a conversation on “if we must wipe” or not and to provide evidence on whether it is needed or not. Many points being brought up are subjective and it isn’t really worth trying to sway those that have their view. It is better to wait a bit longer to see what changes in the game and doesn’t.

In my original post here I stated my views that a wipe right now makes no sense because the broken parts of the game are still here and we basically would still have many of the problems we have. The only way it makes sense was if we wanted to prove out the changes that did happen and do another balance pass from level 1-50 as a large group of people level. Then it makes complete sense. But, we are in release so that is harder to achieve without losing a few people.

The biggest mistake the Devs made (which we cannot fix) is not wiping the EA Universe 6 months prior to release like it was communicated. That wipe would have been helpful. Unfortunately they were so far behind (code wise) that those balance tweaks happened during release instead of being done during an EA wipe phase.

Well in all fairness you don’t really have the right on some level to define “creativity” for a person. My views do link into creative aspects but it isn’t worth trying to explain it to this forum or audience via a text form. It is too complicated.

What I can say, though, is your view is one side of a coin. You seem to be saying something is only beautiful if it sticks around. For me, I have a much more impermanent view and can see beauty in a flower or anything that dies quickly. But this gets too much into spiritual beliefs and a mindset around not being attached to things and not really relevant beyond explaining that we won’t be aligned on “creative” and “beauty” aspects.

The worlds are being wiped constantly. Every day beacons disappear and the world regenerates.

Every week we are getting temporary new planets for exploration.

Seems legit for me. I like seeing the new planets, it is fun exploration and cool new planets. When builds wipe, then I can build in areas that are cool.

New players will join and new planets will spawn that can be built on

If you want a wipe, just go to your beacon and remove it…and walk away to a quiet planet  You can wipe yourself hehe.

We’re definitely getting new people, I’ve looked at the Steam chart and it is going up really well right now… Maybe a new permanent or two soon? If so, hope we get one with forests like on a few of the recent exos, wow… some of those have been so gorgeous lately.

This topic is temporarily closed for 10 hours due to a large number of community flags.

Subjective. And I’m pretty certain it was only you in EA suggesting that they wipe again 6 months before release. Never anywhere have I seen the developers say that.

There is a simple solution to this though. Delete your characters and start again. You have that choice to suit your views.

However, by continually pushing your desire for a wipe and touting it as being “good for the game” without any actual proof that it would be, all you’re doing is essentially removing that choice from everyone else.

Edit: stupid bot not telling me the thread was already closed before I posted.

Edit 2: so as not to seem to be abusing my limited mod powers, I’ll open the thread again. If you want to try and post before the bot closes it again, please do so.
