Why all colours? I always just use diamond ones for all.

Yes that is correct, it’s a significant bonus (2x wear removed in fact)
True, but I find it rather unnecessary if I’m honest. It goes fast enough on machines that aren’t the same gem type…
Just hit it twice 
I find it much easier to do my whole workshop with the same spanner then having to switch from one to another…

Haha, yes to be fair you’re probably quite right.
But I forged a stack of each anyway, just because. And they sell.
I don’t have a workshop anywhere near the size of yours though and usually only have 1 or 2 machines in need of repairs at a time, but yes, nothing a diamond couldn’t achieve in 2 hits.
However I do quite enjoy having my rainbow selection of spanners occupying an otherwise useless set of quick slots on my forger

Did you see what I have at The Chiseled Spanner? 
I bought some there before but they were mixed buffs
Also what am I doing wrong? For me it takes like 10-15 hits to fully repair a machine and it’s coils. And that’s not even fully coiled machines!
Have you got the spanner skills? And max “wear removed” forged on to the spanner? It still takes quite a few hits even then.
I think my repair guy hits for 48000 using the appropriate gem hammer.
