Example Please: Educate me on power coils

Can someone please explain to me the proper wait to lay and max amount of power coils that you can set up.

Is there a limit per base? Per Machine? Per anything? Thank you.

Each machine can have a maximum of 24 power coils.
They must have at least a single block gap between them and the machine.
You can mix standard and advanced coils on the same machine.
Anything passing through the spark between them will get damaged as well as cause damage to the coils.
Coils can be repaired with any spanner but take a very long time with stone ones, fastest are gem spanners.
There’s no real right or wrong way to set them out, it’s really just a case of finding the best configuration for the space you have and how you like it to look. One thing to consider though is that you’ll need to be able to reach each power coil to repair them, unfortunately they don’t repair as one unit unlike machines and spark cores.
Check out Jiivitas videos on you tube, there’s one on power coils which should still be relevant.

So does there have to be a space between each power coil?

Or can I have like this:

[Macine] [space] [powercoil][powercoil]

Correct. Also recommend this

Interesting… gonna have to rethink how my manufacturing plant is built now.

Yeah they soon start to take up a lot of space especially as you need to have access to each one for repairs. Don’t forget you don’t have to stack the machines in a column as is usually seen. They can be connected in any way you want which might allow for a bit more flexibility in your design.

You have to keep in mind the need to physically access the coils in order to repair 'em, breaking the whole infrastructure in order to access coils for repairs gets annoying really quickly.

My own preference is for machines placed horizontally into a wall, with a locked door for maintenance access so that random new players can’t suicide to your coils quite as often.

I also lag-proof it with strategically placed chiseled railings. So, putting all that together we come to my little max coil configuration:

View from behind, notice the lag-proofing (it’s there so you don’t suicide to coils while having lag spasms / that some people call being pushed around by ā€˜invisible wildstock’):

Bottom pattern (repeated on top):

Machinery wall, viewed from the front, with the locked maintenance access door:

Edit: It’s all part of my Ugly Cube warehouse, the machinery wall fits into a 1x5 plot area, with room for one of each machine with max coils, plus a section with 4 of each machine with a single coil for non-powered crafting (minus centraforge, since you only need the one):

The rest of the 5x5x1 plotted area is simply storage shelving on all remaining walls, as pictured above.

All ugly materials shown in the pictures are placeholder, it’ll be prettified once I move to my final location. :stuck_out_tongue:

Not if I’m interpreting your meaning here correctly. A valid layout would be:
[Machine][space]i[coil]
[Space][coil]

You can not place a coil on the other side of another coil

I still say we need racks

I just wish they make power coins like Spark generators.

Why make it overly complicated to have a nice looking area.

Where is this located, I need to see with my own eyes

Black Light, Pheminorum.

We can meet in game if you’d like me to take you there. Are you on the official discord?

If not, coming out of the Portal Seekers - Biitula hub portal into Black Light, look for the building with the columns. Behind that there’s a small purple house with a portal inside. That portal will take you to my warehouse.
