My name was basically a run on from an IRL friend’s online name DannThatsGood. Which, is because his name is Dan, and it kind of sounds like Damn thats Good, in a way. So, being the weird friend I am, I just put no effort into creating any special name for me, and ran with it ever since.

This is also where the GTG name came from. Guild Thats Good. Just made sense xD

My name is but a word. See how much sense that makes when you look at the definition… Stupid, right? :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I change my avatar regularly to add to that confusion. Why? Well, when in Rome…

Boundmore is just a twist on the game name, what some of you might have realized.

Avatar is a poorly executed paintnet job: a mouse-move made B (for Boundmore) in Oortian alphabet; background is a cropped screenshot of Septerfon (a world from beta times).

One of the first nickname i used on the web more than 20 years ago was Weed, and i used It for a good decade, after that i felt a little bit old for that and in lack of immagination i changed It in edWe. :upside_down_face:

I usually use some form of Paka online, I like it more than my given name. It was the name of a cat I had, 1994-2010, here is the real Paka, typical Queen Cat ball of Tortitude. :joy: Name translates to cat in Swahili, I had trouble picking a name for her when we got her so got a book of international baby names from the library and that one jumped out at me.

paka

The bucfan part is because I’m a Tampa Bay Bucs fan, though not nearly into watching football as when I started using that sometimes as part of an online name in places… used to admin on an NFL board and participated in fantasy leagues and such, these days I mostly just listen in on games while playing video games.

For my avatar, here and elsewhere I tend to just change it around based on my mood or when I take a new pic. Maybe I’ll go ahead and swap it again to one I like more.

Thanks. HOST’s game made me realize our usernames and avatars were carriers of, at best, mysteries, and at worst, misconceptions. Like how you might not know how to pronounce a username, or how you might never have looked close-enough at an avatar to actually get what it really is. Like, yours, I always thought it was either a cactus or a Minecraft Creeper. Now I know.

On my first ever forum that I mentioned, there was a section where new people simply came and introduced themselves, answering a number of questions like “how many cookies per month do you eat” and such. ^^
It’s something that could’ve been neat around here, and I guess this thread can accomplish the same result.

Gob being a old nostalgic fart

We also had a ‘Happy Birthday’ thread which basically never died, where we often went off-topic and everybody was freaking fine with it.
Actually the mods were super nice and we rarely had closed threads, they understood how a thread could organically change, nobody ever used the report-feature, no taboo-words, there were sections dedicated to talk about hard subjects, nobody was ever going to come and yell “can this thread be closed already, it’s causing me psychological trauma just seeing it still exists”. There wasn’t an “off-topic” section, as our “general” section was our “off-topic” section.
< sigh >
Good times.

I mean, not that I disagree … I really liked Turrican, but wasn’t it fighting Contra, too?

My name is Sam, my dad sometimes calls me Samski…

Just changed my avatar to something more personal, as it was just a generic internet image, now its a still from a little film thing I did.

My name Fiffer (pronounced Fif Fur) comes from when I was 3 I couldn’t pronounce Christopher and I would call myself Fiffer, so my family took to calling me that. When I started getting access to the internet between 2000 and 2003 I started making email addresses (my first few were discontinued over the years), and started playing a game called RuneScape. Since everyone was telling us “don’t use your real identity on the internet” and several sites asked for a nickname instead of a username I used Fiffer (as it was the only nickname I had). Since it was a spoken nickname my cousin and I figured out how we’d spell it when I made my character on RuneScape (which was hacked because I was a dumb 11 to 12yr old, and now I’m fiffer13 on there too lol).

Fiffer13 became my go to when I was 12 or 13 since most online games said you had to be 13 to play them, and Fiffer was often taken (I guess this spelling or something like is actually someone’s lastname or something). so my youtube, twitch, and nearly every game that lets me use numbers in a name it becomes my name there (although I do still try Fiffer first).

My avatar here is just a glyph I made to look like the Tardis and try and use as a symbol of the Time Lords of Boundless which was a guild I attempted to start with my wife when guilds were released. Our guild city was lost when her gleamclub unexpectedly ended (I didn’t monitor her steam, but I did pester her often to check it), so in a way our guild ‘died’ then too. I just haven’t had anything better to change it to, and since I’m only occasionally active I figured I could wait to try and build up an area again lol.

My name is Beth, just Beth. Not Bethany. Just Beth. Beth doesn’t fit into much and it doesn’t really rhyme with anything not disgusting. My joke name is “Crystal Beth”

Bethlehem is easier on the ears.

My username was a randomly generated character name on a game I first played in 1998 (Discworld MUD) and has no meaning other than I was too lazy to think of a name.

My profile picture is a photo I took at Loch Doon Castle in Galloway Forest Park, Scotland.

Well, now, I’m gonna picture you as this Beth:

Most will not even wonder about my name May since it’s a month and a name often used in Asian countries ^^ To be fair, I like the Asian vibes and the name as well :slightly_smiling_face:

But the truth behind it is, my two oldest brothers (one of them died in an accident 2010) were huge final fantasy fans and so they picked up on that language called Al Bhed.

“The Al Bhed are a tribe of technologists in Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2. Making up ten percent of the Spiran population, they have a unique language…”

However, it got to be a thing, that we as family, but more so actually we kids back in the days “translated” our names into the Al Bhed version and those names became our unique online identity names. As some forum posts already reveal, my real name is Lea. I also got told to not use my real name online and one of my brothers was there even more careful and was not even ever saying online his first name. I think differently. What do people want to do with my first name :woman_shrugging:t2: it’s not like I’m the only Lea in the world after all! Haha. So most of the time I would try online first to claim the name May. If that’s not possible I pick then May-L04 or try to get more creative over that name if needed or try other versions. L04 was created back then when we played Halo on Xbox and every one needed a tag. Older halo games had a tag with the length of 3, later 4 were used. L is my initial obviously and then we used our “lucky numbers” who ever made it up that my lucky number shall be 4, in whatever book it says of my zodiac sign or whatever? I couldn’t find anything that would have stated that haha… but I accepted the number 4 to be something that I identify myself with. I’m also my mom’s 4th and last kid. The 0 is just a filler of my tag lol. So yeah, on PSN and forum mostly you can not just have a name that is 3 characters long. Minimum is 4 or 5 even, so that’s why I add my tag along with my FF encoded name most of the time :slightly_smiling_face: it’s a brotherhood kind of thing. Since boundless I have also a character named “Mayflower” to stay with the “May”.

My profile picture is a picture of a fullmoon that I liked a lot, the picture idea is all based on the title “Nachtschwärmer” that I got given by my oldest brother, because I’m a little night-owl  that’s how I also came to my YouTube name Nachtschwaermer May, a combined of both. Though boundless and other games have a limitation of 15 characters so mostly whether the combination nor my special title is pickable since it’s mostly already used.

That’s about my name and picture  but the number 4 followed me a bit too when it was about my little baby boy. 40 weeks and 4 days pregnant. Born on the 24th and in room 4. Must be fate I guess  also do you remember the raffle @Bethlehem? I won 6 times in a row using the number 4 and everything related to it. Using kinda the multiplication table. I was taking the number 4 at least twice. I took 2, 8, 16… good times good times!:grin::laughing: so something is about that number :stuck_out_tongue:

Back in the days of Counter-Strike (CS) Source virtual LAN, me and my brother (about same age) always watch our older brother play CS. Eventually he gave us an account, but a shared one. My name is Lawrence and my brother is Reynaldo sooo take the first three letters of each name and you have my username.

When we want our own separate accounts, my brother named his “Reylaw”. I stick with the name until now but my brother used other usernames after some time.
