Farmable Bean Crops

What you think would be a reasonable crop % with seed at 105%?

:joy::joy: I love it!

But it’s just that I prefer to torture myself in other ways. But I understand we are saying, we shouldn’t make Boundless the mistress of everyone else too.

My kindling farm would genuinely upset you, lol. Set to max crops, I lose about 300 seeds each time I harvest it.

Actually sounds like you two should hook up.

I didn’t realize when I put my farm together i set it up to 105% seed on kindling. AS IF.

I’m going to tend plants for hours for a couple hundred seeds and no crop? nope.

Of course now it’s sitting there waiting for rework lol. I sorted the kindling part just need to replace a couple thousand blocks and rechisel.

I don’t want beans to be farmable. Or paste made out of kranuts. I want cheap tools though so :man_shrugging:

I’ve always felt that the way farming was implemented it took more from the game than it added. The inorganics were new stuff and that’s cool but everything organic just cannibalized other activities.

That would be cute right!

My thoughts exactly, I honestly feel it’s far more time consuming for less reward trying to maintain a self sustaining kindling farm, so I just went fell ham the other direction. Takes me 5 minutes to harvest and replant and I get a yield of over 1000 kindling mass, and I only have to do this when I actually need the crop.

There are no doubt some people who truly enjoy it the way it is. There is no way any chore/task/profession can be designed in a way that every player will enjoy the way it is implemented. Bu that’s the beauty of the game, do the things you enjoy doing, and let other people do the things you don’t enjoy for you.

My impression was that the devs have tried to balance farming so that the time invested into your farm should give a similar yield as you would have got spending that same amount of time gathering those items. In a sense I feel they have achieved that or at least come close to it while also creating a bunch of new items to buy and sell. And hey the end of the day, like everything in his game, it’s optional, you can choose to boundless however you want to boundless.

I agree with just about everything @wakeNbake said.

Personally, i think they should give us farmable beans, but go the goo-way in terms of seed return (so say, max of 80%).

This way, you keep bean gathering intact for newbies (seeds could drop from existing bean sources, in addition the the beans themselves), we get more beans entering the economy (price isnt the issue for me, availability is), and only people who really want/meed beans will farm them because theres still some effort involved.

Mind you, i’m arguing against my own self interests here. But i want to avoid an exo yam situation. These things are now essentially trivial, due to the massive self-sustaining farms that are possible.

Yeah this is the complexity I meant too.
Or maybe higher drop rate but they grow slower.

Right. I get that not everyone loves gathering, but if it’s meant to be a role worth playing it should be somewhat rewarding. My preference would be to add completely new items/recipes to farming if farming really needs more, or if beans must head the way of the exotic yam then add new (desirable) drops to gathered plants.
