Let’s be honest- how much of our gameplay would be greatly improved just with the addition of Spicy Bean crops. I’ve been confused this whole time why Spicy, Bitter and Sweet Beans were left off of the list of farm crops added into the game back with our farming update and in my opinion it was good to not drop everything at once.
HOWEVER it’s now been some time since the farming update has dropped and the addition of those crops to the already fantastic farming mechanic would be a huge boost to me wanting to play the game more.
I know the struggle… collecting/gathering beans was one task I quickly got sick of and eventually resigned myself to just buying them as there just arent enough hours in the day to collect as many beans as I go through.
But… my concern is… what will making them farmable do to their value? Spicy beans in particular are one of the absolute best ways for a new player to make some easy coin by just slapping any desert sword they stumble upon while in the early levels, it’s generally the first piece of advice I give to any new player in fact… collect spicy beans!
Are u sure noobs and rookies are going to t5 planets to get bitter beans …hmm could they make a farm and sell beans. Especially for some of us that dont want to farm. It actually could benefit all.
Yeah I was just referring to the spicy beans for new players, if they somehow make it work so that it is simple enough for new players to get themselves a little farm set up then sure. Personally I use thousands of spicy beans each week so there is no way I am going to bother farming them for myself, I’ll continue to buy them. But I’m not sure how they manage that without also dropping the price of the things to basically nothing, currently most farmable crops are almost valueless, anything a new player could realistically farm is anyway. But perhaps because beans are such high demand items they will retain some value.
All I was really just trying to say is they need to be careful on how it is implemented as new players currently have a tough enough time as it is getting started making coin.
I’ve been looking for this for awhile. I have huge farm(s) and this would be a welcome addition. I had proposed that they grow on the trellis we can craft and have them grow vertically.
I could care less about the economy. They way things are now IMO: some things cost too much and other things are too cheap. So as I see it the economy is still in flux so why not add beans to the mix.
I did a previous post on this and pushed for it personally during a dev call - even added growing trees. They’d like a variety of things like this but didn’t feel that it made sense to have another tweak to farming right now when it was done and instead bring more features online. I guess like width of things instead of deeply into a thing. Personally I still think it should be tweaked as small additions here and there over the course of updates.
@Xaldafax I agree- I would love to see them push out the beans as just part of an update like “Oh hey yeah we are dropping the hunter- AND ALSO THIS NEAT BEAN CROP” I’d lose my everloving mind and flip out with excitement.
@wakeNbake Honestly there are still tons of things new players can do to make money- crafting glue and selling it is lucrative as all get out and so is making fresh essence. that stuff will sell all day as well.
Fair point, maybe this just gets to me as much as it does because desert swords and rosetta nox have always been my “go to” tip for helping new players. And it worked both ways as it recruited yet another bean collector for my basket when I showed them the best place to sell the things as well, haha.
If they would roll beans out to farming it would most likely be designed where you would harvest but most likely loss the seed. Especially for bitter and sweet beans I’d see it designed that way.
No additional seeds sounds like a good idea to me. I am not a big fan of running around smacking plants where I want industrial amounts.
Also, not all new players know that harvesting beans is profitable. To make a shop stand was out of my reach for weeks. I dont have any shop stands selling stuff even now. I’m of a mind to gather everything myself for that makes me feel good that “see, I did that!” but hours and hours running around to get these ingredients, not exactly what I find fun. Maybe relaxing but I would rather be building than this.
One of the unfun things for one of my friends is wandering around smacking plants, when they want industrial amounts.
Probably the farming of such crops should be a bit complex like the inorganic crops that way only people who really really likes to farm will have fields for those.
And we can keep the gathering for newbies and people who hate farming
It’s beans…why should it be complex. Why wouldn’t they give seed…not everything has to be complex. Farming itself is already boring enough why over complicate it. .
If you’re telling me i can’t even get the seed back from the crop- that just makes me the worst farmer in any game anywhere at any time…there doesn’t need to be an insane grind to make a game enjoyable. You all wanna talk about what’s best for new players yet locking the growth of those behind never getting seeds back would mean that the plant is basically useless. you’d still be stuck to running around a planet slapping plants-hoping they’ll spit out enough seeds to make it worth you going home then waiting days to maybe get a bit more in return?
Nah.
Just put more things in the game for us to do- quit looking for new and inventive ways to be punished by this game and go get a dominatrix like the rest of us.
edit: AGAIN 105% seed at max is reasonable- takes me almost 6 stacks of kindling to make 200 seeds.
