Does it only do gold on the simulator Or can you switch it to gems? If so how?
I believe the “gold” you are seeing is merely a graphics choice made by @Mayumichi and these icons are there so you can select the item type you wish to test forging. You will need to manually enter the Effectiveness % in the box as that is the only difference between forging the various material types.
@wakeNbake is right, the icons are just to select the item type, effectiveness is used to control the material. It’s dependant on the coil count and character skills, I could just assume max coils and skills and make some preset buttons for different materials now that I think about it.

Oh yes, this please! I don’t think there will be many people forging without the coils necessary… and certainly not without the forging skills.
