Game Crash on launch

Im having issues playing the game on my MacBook Pro, It’ll launch but as soon as the game loads into the sanctum it crashes,

Im using a 2017 MacBook Pro

2.3 Ghz intel core i5

8gb Ram

Intel Iris plus 640 graphics

The Game runs fine on my iMac and MacBook Air, my antivirus is off and the game files are verified. Iv uninstalled and reinstalled. Iv even gone as far as to login on my iMac and reduce all graphics to their lowest with no effect.

I tried to get the logs but was unable to retrieve them.

Are you not finding the log within Library/Logs/Boundless/ ?

What version of OSX is it running? you mention it’s a 2017 MacBook Pro but the logs look like it’s running 10.9 which is a few years old (though it’s quite possible it’s a bug in our logging of the os version)
We have seen strange bugs in the past in the graphics drivers (which is where it seems to be crashing) so updating to the latest OSX to get the latest graphics drivers is probably the best place to start.

Hi Blake, I’m currently using the latest osx, 10.13.1 high Sierra, iv checked for updates and there are no more to install. Iv noticed another strange effect it seems to be having on my laptop now, after attempting to run the game my system storage is filling up, which is very strange as there is no files showing to use the space, when I first installed the game I had about 100gb free space but I now only have 9gbs free. This laptop is new and I have nothing else on it yet to use the space. As I said every time I launch the game the memory gets filled more but I can’t find any files on the computer that are using it.

For the disk space Apple seems to be store all the coredumps when applications crash, you can take a look here for some discussion about how to clean them up and potentially disable them if you want

edit* Blake your a legend, the cores folder was using up near all the memory on my Mac, I had been onto 3 separate apple support staff who all basically were telling me to delete and reinstall osx.

Now if we get the game not to crash on this MacBook ill elevate you to Demigod :smiley:

seriously 2 hours online with apple support and another hour on the phone with them and none off them thought about solution.

Still at a loss to why the game won’t run on my MacBook Pro, would it be that the drivers aren’t capable of running the game?

The crash does appear to be happening in the graphics driver. Sadly with OSX we can’t recommend you upgrade to the latest vendor graphics drivers!!

Does your laptop have 2 GPUs?

We’re releasing an update shortly, you should definitely give that a try… it might magically stop crashing.

Nevioni, I also run on a macbook pro 2015 2.8 ghz core i7 but with AMD Radeon R9 M370X, I had the same problem with the core dumps, I also went through hours online with apple support and they also didn’t figure out why my 1 TB drive only had a few gigs left of storage. It turned out after ignoring apple support and running Daisysdisk to find the problem Core dumps were taking over 800 gigabytes! I used terminal commands to disable and delete all the core dumps after a few google searches on how to do so, that fixed my storage problem.

Not sure about why it currently won’t run. I had some trouble shortly after the High Sierra 10.13.2 update but resolved it by doing a complete uninstall, restart steam and then reinstall of boundless.

Same thing happening to me. 2017 iMac intel core i7 running Sierra 10.13.3 - Radeon Pro 575.

Just an update, I bootcamped my macbook pro to run Windows 10 yesterday, after installing and playing through Windows the game now runs beautifully on my macbook. So the hardware is capable of running the game fine, I had thought that perhaps the graphics card wasn’t up to the job but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Have you tried the latest testing update on os x? It fixed some graphical driver issues for some people, so there’s a chance something may be magically fixed…
