Is Gatherer Epic perk worth 5 points or should I just use the 5 points elsewhere?
And can someone explain to me how it works? So I can use a shovel and dig up plants? But where is my loot??
It gives you the ability to dig up plants,rocks,fungus,etc… then use it for decoration, but it also gives you x2 to drops from gathering it. so you get more loots. Worth it to me.

if you at least focus a bit on gathering surface mats of any kind it’s worth it, japp. And if you like to make some nice gardens it’s also handy

2x the drop of saltpeter which sells easily at ~225 coins each plus the rest of the drops in that family.
Very worth it for the coin.

I’d like to point out that I believe that its 2x drop RATE and not DROPS. So if you have max luck and getting 2 leaves from say desert swords then the gatherer epic perk wont give you 4. Or at least it didnt for me. Can anyone else confirm?

That was also my experience. Having both maxed luck and the Epic gathering skill definitely felt like they had some serious diminishing return when used together, to the point that I ditched the Epic gathering for something else for now.
Same here I was excited to get some leaf farming going but after hitting like 20 plants and only getting 2 each that I would have gotten with max luck anyway I ditched it for dexterity instead.
EDIT: That is to say unless you want to be able to pick up the resource itself and use it for decorations, it isnt worth the 5 point investment imho.
It might be your planet! I have a TON of leaves from my home T1 planet but noticed that on some t3s that no leaves were dropping from plants.
Oh no, I get leaves but I’m saying that gatherer perk doesn’t give you anything more than what max luck would have given you anyway. Except the ability to pick up the plant or rock or mushroom and use it for decoration in your plots. And max luck applies to everything collected whereas gatherer perk only applies to plants, mushrooms, and boulders.
