Gem torches emitting white light, instead of the gem color light…

I see all colored torch emitting white light, instead of the colored light…
Were gem torches supposed to be same as gem color when emitting light?, I only ask as I have no knowledge of how they work since I’ve never bought, made, or was given one. Heard they ding though.
In pre alpha a ruby torch emitting red light, now it emitting white light with a pink touch in the outer edge.

While on the topic of gem torches - does the diamond one have the annoying halo by default or is it just me?..
Btw, all torches lit the area with the corresponding colour for me, although it’s not as bright as on the Evoshade’s screenshot.
I will not use gem torches as anything but a building light source. Tried using a diamond one, ended up dieing a few times due to a particle Halo effect that white screened my vision so bad I fell into lava because I couldn’t make out the terrain.
Yeah, the gem torches are too intense in the hand I think. I usually hold a piece of gleam or a plain lantern. Lights up almost as much area, but without blinding me.

Wish we still had those shake cubes of light. Those were kinda neat!
