Should I be finding gems on Cardass? I find every kind of metal but no gems.
I go to 110+ and topaz is pretty obscene with a smattering of sapphire.
People say the rule for top/sapphire is 70+ but I’ve had the best luck st 110+
Ive tried various heights on Alnitans but cant find a goto level, can you possibly give some insight to what level for sapphire on Alnitans is recommended
I do 110+ on altinans too. If it’s possible lower I’ve never had good luck. At 110+ in cardass or altinans, I e never once not come home with at least 300 topaz/sapphire on 1 persist pie with maxed out buff duration.
Nice, ive been tending to try around 120-130, though ive never had quite the returns youre getting
I don’t get it. I’m finding nothing. The only “land” that high are these pancake looking floating layers…and I’m finding nothing but layers of rov k snd sand with an occasional piece of tech.
There’s definitely higher land that those pancakes on Card. Depending on the height of some of the mountains you can find topaz all the way up to alt 150 
Found a mountain. Went to 112. Durnded near hollowed out that layer. Nothing. Now I’m cutting AOE swathes of staird through the hogher level. Tech, fossils, iron…none gems. I may be done for today. This is frustrating.
I had the same issue on Cardas yesterday. Was really struggling with the “pancakes” as you call them. Ended up spotting a mountain and in a few hours I managed to get enough topaz for 2 bulk crafts of advanced power coils. Don’t give up! If you don’t find anything within 10 minutes go higher or lower.
I don’t know. Maybe there just isn’t any in the mountain. Running between mountains is nerve wracking since one hit from anything here and I’m dead.
Add control and possibly shadow step to your miner as with these you will need to get really close to enemies to aggro them for the most part.
Hoppers still have aggro bugs though but usually they are not an issue with how slow and noisy they are.

Just in the wrong biome and the atlas will show where to dig much easier usually.
These floating layers are you best option for saltpeter though so remember their spots.

Chompman is dead on. Get control and shadow step when you can. They’ll change your life as far as gathering goes.
