Glass is tedious

I know that the crafting recipes are just placeholders right now, but I just thought I would let you know that I feel like glass is a little resource intensive to make. It takes 8 sand to make currently, and you don’t get anything back if you accidentally place it. It’s faster just to die, place the 50 blocks of glass you get, and then die again to get 50 more.

I completely understand the amount of work you guys have, but I thought it was worth noting so you have some feedback.

I agree 8 sand blocks is too many just to make one glass window. I vote for 4 sands to make a glass.

I actually forgot that you can die to get 50 blocks of glass. In US2 my build which has the lanterns was a real ■■■■■ to get… I think I spent 2-3 hours just getting the lanterns using the sand.

@yo-am-loco 4 blocks would be a lot better, but I’m so used to the 1:1 ratio in Minecraft. Haha. Even still though, I would much prefer four blocks.
@Combatman12 Haha! Yeah, I needed a lot of glass for my house so I just taunted a Spitter until I died.

thinking of economy 8 may be good later if stuff has to be balanced, but yes, 4:1 sounds more reasonable and is still lot of work to get if you go out and try to grab some sand ^^

I wouldn’t mind as much if the recipe that used 8 pieces was a fancier version of glass, or at least a version that gave you a glass block when broken. Some users might choose to make the “reinforced” version, even though it took longer, if it meant that there was some added benefit over a recipe that used 4 pieces.

1:1 ratio too if it doesn’t affect the economy in the game too much

I think ratios of x:y will require tweeks and balances for quite a while after economy is fully implemented, but I think some kind of machine like the compressor might be used in the future to turn 8 sand into 1 compressed sand, then fire that in a furnace for glass. At the moment though, it is a bit excessive.
