They vanish on PC as well. You can do the mods to make the tails easier to spot when they’re falling but they don’t make the landed cores any easier like they do with regular meteors.
It’s not just hard to see or too dim, they don’t have a pillar of light over them like regular meteors.
I have to say, I’m loving the gleambow event. I get to 9/10 of the meteors I persue, I love the adrenaline when one spawns, I reeeeally love the being Tarzan, I also get to sing the theme tune to “George of the Jungle” and I have more Oortstone than I have ever had. I also love having another thing to do whilst filling out my atlases (something that has not interested me in the past, also you AWESOME experience for exploring new regions.)
I agree you need some money to get started but it is really self sustainable if you sell the Oortstone you get and use that money to buy Grapples/Brews/Pies/Forged Totems. I started the event with 80k and I currently have about 80k still even after spending about 70k in total on things for gleambow.
I am using my newest, third, skill tree that only has 40ish skill points on it, so you don’t need a full tree at all. BUT I do have 1400 hours in this game so I understand that I know it better than a new player.
300 hours on this current character
The one thing I’d say is a negative, is the benefit of going solo. I understand that more people = bigger meteor but there will always be someone with a better totem that can hoover up loot faster or get to the meteor quicker. (Then again I like that solo competition every now and then) 🤷
I love this idea. I don’t want to see the event nerfed, because it is my favorite activity in Boundless and it is already too easy for me. Last time around, I had to create new rules for myself to keep it fun and challenging. I limited myself to T6 planets only and I had to reach the meteor before it landed, without speed brews.
This idea is great because if there are different level rewards for, say, how soon you get to the meteor, and everyone gets a reward whether they are first or not, then it could keep both “casual” and “hardcore” players entertained.
Spent about 2 hours so far running around a variety of planets and in that time I’ve had about 4 gleambow meteors which I’ve managed to get to in time and complete but not one of them had any gleam, so far all I’ve got is some ash, foliage, thorns and gravel …not particularly encouraging and seeming pretty pointless at the moment.
Ok, I should rephrase that then … “not one of them was a gleam meteorite” …apart from a dormant meteorite which was all one colour of gleam were it had changed to the planets natural gleam colour as well as 3 black gleam so for me that’s not exactly encouraging or encouraging me to waste another 2 hours.
Just did 2 more … Mud and glass plus 1 more black gleam and 1 hot cherry
6 gleambow meteors, 6 bits of gleam priceless
After 3-4 hours and 8 gleambows, each completed, but not one of them actually made of gleam (yes each one had a piece of gleam so technically does that make them actual gleambows?) I think I’m going to pass on this event , RNG strikes again!! A few blocks of multicoloured mud, mould, growth, thorns, glass, sand and foliage are a bit of a let down, I mean seriously how many gleambows I’m I supposed to complete to actually find one made of gleam??
Right, with (massive!) thanks to Combustive who kitted me out, I so far managed to get to one meteor. It was a mold one, no gleam (seriously, none…) and the box inside had 3 gold. So if there was gleam in there, it must have been a tiny tiny teensy weensy one that was so far chiseled down that I didn’t see it, but I looted the whole thing and didn’t have any in my inventory. But if anyone needs 18 different coloured molds, please get in touch!
Depends where they landed. They look fairly close. I had normal meteors landing right next to each other. Only a few days ago, in front of my house, lvl1 meteor came down, which I happily started to take on, 5mins later, in the middle of the fight, the next lvl2 meteor landed right next to me (probably 20 blocks away). Almost got a heart attack. So I wouldn’t be surprised if the gleam ones do the same.
And from the items that Combustive gave me, I can only assume with the right gear it’s possible. With the standard gear, definitely not.
You can see I was not using speed brews, it took me at least 30 seconds after it landed to get to this and there is still more than 2 mins 30 seconds on the counter.
Plus it’s not uncommon to trigger level 3 meteors solo!
It looks like from reading all the different posts regarding these gleambows I’m the only one just getting mud and mould etc it would be interesting to know what sort of ratio others are getting.
On the first two planets, I didn’t get a gleam one. Then I started going to other planets and I’ve been getting them…maybe 1 out of 5 or 1 out of 7. The glass ones have been the most rare for me. I’ve only gotten one live glass and two dormant ones.
If I get enough free time before the event finishes I might have another go, I tried a number of different planets but still found the spawn rates pretty low and not one made of gleam. I guess I’ve just had a bad run of RNG.
I’d say maybe 1:4 are pure gleam meteors. Check the bottoms and edges of the mold and tangle ones though… that’s where a majority of my rarer gleams have come from.
8 out of 8 so far all trash except one block of gleam from each. Spent almost 4 hours running over multiple planets but spawn rates were pretty low so not the most productive weekend evening for me unfortunately.
