Goo turns black and gets stuck at 6h 30m

Goo farming experts, maybe you can help? I have a goo farm and I set it up matching some examples I found in game and on the forums. I’m getting crop yield 220% and seed yield 80% and I’m happy with that setup. I’m using rock that matches the color of the goo seeds I have.

My problem is that randomly I’ll get a few goo that will turn black even though they say a different color, and they will become indefinitely stuck at growth time remaining of 6h 30m. The ones that this happens to are all stuck at this exact time, they’ve all turned black visually, and they vary in actual color (luminous blue, luminous violet, weary yellow, luminous taupe, weary mustard are just a few).

Does anyone know why this is happening? Am I doing something wrong? Is this just a visual bug and if I wait long enough they’ll finish growing? I know growth times have RNG so maybe I just keep catching them at just the wrong moment.

Right now my farm has 156 spots for goo to grow and 18 have turned black and stuck at 6h 30m, so around 11-12%.

I’m by no means a goo expert but I’ve been messing around with a few different set ups. I do have one like yourself that uses the correct Colour rock.

Do they look like this?

Does it say black as the colour? How long have they been growing? Did you fertilize them?

I’ve been having better luck getting the colours I want by transmuting them or planting them on gleam than I have by using the same colour rock.

Don’t worry, it’s one of the growing phase. They will turn to something else after some time.

It’s RNG based farming. It says 6h30 but its more like every X amount of time there is a chance that the plant will get to the next growing step.

The colour of the rock has no influence whatsoever on the goo that is growing. The chances of the goo changing colors are really low on rocks. Usually about 5% maybe?
Gleam does influence the color the goo will become. and i would say that about 95% of your planted goo will change color when its planted on gleam

Thank you everyone! That makes sense, I’ll leave them be then and assume the rngods will eventually favor me and they will progress to the next stage

Much appreciated!

You can use a fertiliser on them to help speed up the process too.

I plant 300 same colour goo on rock. Goo recovered after harvesting is approx 225 to 240. Usually less than 200 of those kernels stay the same colour. You lose approx 20% kernels harvesting and another 20% morph into a nearby colour. Welcome to goo farming frustrations
