The same problem as stated here, but this was posted in the Release 237: Oortmas! post. Happens to me also.
once it connects it does turn green though, annoying!

I had a super fast grapple from gleam bow, so didn’t even realise lol - weird flex

Also copper regen bombs sometimes look like iron bombs after being thrown.

I’ve noticed that when I use any of my gem grapples, the projectile thrown has the color of an amethyst grapple :
Tested with Diamond and Topaz grapples.
Fixed in the next update. (Not released until after the New Year.)

Iron grapple looks copper when fired too
