I was just wondering what the community is like in this game(at the moment). From what I’ve seen it looks like there’s a nice little community here and everyone seems to be chill with everyone, but I have seen examples, mind that being few, of griefer work. Im just wondering if, aside from any server wipes that may happen or otherwise, would it be worthwhile building something whether or not that be big or small eg a city to a small cottage, without a beacon. Of course I wouldn’t risk the chance but just as an example (to determine the odds) if I built a tower and I didn’t beacon it or my craftable beacon was too small to cover its scale what would be the chance of someone coming and destroying it or dismanteling it? I know when 1.0 is released the community will increase greatly and the odds may have increased (especially with the fact of console players joining - no offense just implying that there is a large community out there, I myself prefer console) but at the moment what would the chance be?
Depends, if you build it near the capital the chances are higher, and the further out you go the more the chances go towards 0.
But because we luckily have a relatively high EA price most of the trolls and griefers don’t even bother to buy the game.
There might be 0.1-1% griefers in our community (my estimate^^)
So build on a lonely world far out and noone should grief you. At least for the time being.
For now i think you can build in relative peace without worrying, however later they plan to implement a system deleting things placed which aren’t beaconed and remaking things which aren’t beaconed. So a beacon will be necessary later, but for now. Not so much.
Thanks for the reply. Shouldn’t be too hard to find any derelect worlds/ areas.
Thanks. Just as another inquiry does this mean there will be ways to expand a sole beacon/ build bigger beacons in 1.0 as I am unsure about the devs keeping in a beacon request in the full game. I know about the guilds and clans etc. combing beacons but I think for now I’ll have to look elsewhere for safety measures.
You can already craft beacons, was added a little time ago, there will be some sort of limitation on how many beacons, either initial cost, physical limitation, or god forbid require a constant upkeep. so i dont think as a single player you should be able to beacon enough for a grandscale city, but i can easily imagine a guild being able to do that.
Yea well I still have till 1.0 official release to finish my blueprints and acquire a team. But what people have built even now just amazes me: both at the designs and time spent. Thank you for your time and answering my questions
here in Hawig that i’m alone i builded a beacon to have a place. Spitters I think that when they come across they fire the walls and without that they could break them, Beacons protect your building or any creation of being destroyed
As far as I know spitters do not destroy blocks. Only explosive arrows do. But I can’t test it atm.
Correct, spitters cannot destroy blocks.
Personally I have only encountered griefing once and it was way back when textures werent the ones the game uses now, aside from that experience i have seen unbeaconed (i know that is not a real word :p) places reamain intact and safe. My second construction is one example, off course both my favorite places have beacons now but you shouldnt have much trouble finding peaceful places to settle. Also there is a big stone statue that spells “FU” where my first home used to be, just avoid places with obvious griefing signs, like that one.
