Can be cosmetic only, doesn’t have to only be hats.

There’s not much of a complete system for cosmetics/clothing in the game yet, and it’s still mostly up for debate. However, if I remember correctly, the devs have said that they want wearables to be almost entirely cosmetic, that way it’ll prevent the situation in which there’s a cool clothing item, but it’s lower level than a not as cool looking clothing item.
nice! I never like how in lots of mmorpgs, it ends up with all characters looking the same because there’s only 2 high tier armour sets.
Yeah, I was really hoping for the devs to help avoid that, and as far as I’m aware, they are. It always upsetted me when I had to settle for some low level armor just because it looked nicer.
As a TF2 Player I can say hats are 100% what devs should be spending all their time developing right now.

But didn’t Terraria do this quite nicely? something along those lines seem nice.
Wearables and customisation are very important to us. Part the reason why we don’t have much character customisation in the game at the moment is because we’re really keen on making sure we have a really variable system.

Can confirm. There should be an economy based on hats. 
I had rather hoped to have lots of cosmetic wearables, but not to the insane level of TF2’s hats. Preferably cosmetics that still fit with the art style of the Boundless universe.

Jepp, please don’t add stuff that breakes the main style of the game atmosphere … nothing is more disturbing then a beautiful landscape with fantastic buildings, mystical woods, mesmerizing creatures … and a colorful partyclown jumping arround in neon yellow shoes, red pants and in rainbow colors glowing cape -.-

Hats jast for look reminds me games where you can wear at sam time armor for stats and armor for look… Not best idea for boundless
