Ok so it sound like after this roller coaster of modern language that it’s working ok?
For the record: If the game is failing to start and there is no log file - then it’s likely:

An installation failure and something the game depends upon is missing: try re-installing, and make sure you’re not running something that might make it fail (anti virus, etc).

An OS incompatibility - for example 32bit OS, when 64bit is required. Make sure you have all your system service packs installed and you have the latest graphics drivers directly from your vendor. (Microsofts drivers are often out of date.)
