How do you do it?
Dl you sketch it on paper or so?
Do you first build houses etc?
Roads first?
Just brainstorming here. I have something in mind and i just wanna ask you guys what could be the best option…
I know theres different builders and people do things differently so would be interesting to find out.
Images are also welcome. 1 pic tells more than thousand words
Step 1. Build huge thing.
Step 2. Realize huge thing is off the center by 1 block.
Step 3. Scream and cry.
Step 4. Tear down huge thing.
Step 5. Cry a little more.
Step 6. Build huge thing again.
Step 7. Repeat step 2-6 until you finally do it right.
If possible do some test building in Creative to get a feel for the design you’ve come up with ,
… and test the color palette you are going to use.
Oh and one pro-tip;
Place your build carefully on the world; be aware of the 512 mesh limit per Chunk when you are going
to use lots of mesh-blocks (for storage example)
And then there’s nothing standing in the way of getting started in Live game version.
Build and chisel it as you like.
Good luck
Last time we built a full huge city, we started at the center of it, which was the portal hub area.
While that was being built, we worked out way out from there. Starting with the ring of roads ensconcing the hub area.
Then worked our way out with another ring of roads that was to be shop areas and other portal connections. After that ring of roads, we worked the roads even further back to lay out the districts. And continued on from there.
If you think you’ve plotted enough before building to be safe from anyone else who could muck up your city, plot a few rows more. Can’t remember exactly how many thousands of plots everyone had put down before we felt a definite safe.
We firstly decided to move.
We then thought about the spaces we wanted and about wanting the hub to be central to the build.
Next we built a mini version in game letting each block represent a plot.
Then I modelled some floor plans in cad.
After that we set out to find the perfect spot.
@Sterbehilfe i have always actually wondered why hubs are not at top of everything (city) like a mountain or so. I think my dream village would have that checked.
@Envyv77 ye… circa is pretty cool place. I might stick around for another project.
The way i plan it all out is technically space calculation. Meaning what is the main thing you center on and how much plots do you want to waist on every part of the beginning infrastructures. (Its a lot of plotting and replotting)
Size of Terra Nova is 36x36 not because of the middle but because of the outer wals of central. Roads and water features not counted before and came after.
If you center you block your self off that means you can’t expand out. So you have to give yourself expansion plots be for you need them.
@Cuetzpalomitl been there and done it @Sujimichi88 there are several Dutch words that can be used but im keeping my mouth shut and just say, it also was one of the reasons i moved and when i did i had to shift everything 1 complete plot to the other side.
To add its way easier to give yourself more space and work your way out. The other way around is a pain and can cause problems. As for me it ended up replotting everything again (not enough workable space).
