I’m excited to see this game finally release but I was a bit curious if the crafting, exploration, mechanics are up to the same level set by other games that have been out for awhile

well as an old Creativerse veteran (I started around R7) I would say… it has a prettier variation of block types, but you have to pay for any cool ones. like with real money.
the glider is amazing (with pro account) as well as the flashlight, almost essential.
the stack sizes are great and they’ve increased it twice (once from 99 to 300 then they were like why stop there! 999!) but now thats pretty comparable to smart stacks here. (i prefer smart stacks )
anti-gravity worlds are super fun, you can jump insanely high. (and with it comes reduced fall damage! )
But the biggest thing that left creativerse in the dust was their worlds. worlds are not only tiny (for that type of game and the way it works) but there are only 4 seeds. yes four.
the main thing about Boundless that keeps me here is the instant, seamless portals. you can go from one side of a planet to the other or even a different planet, and it will feel like there is no delay or wait time.
in Creativerse, there are teleporters that can transport you somewhere instantly, but only in the loaded vicinity. a soon as you teleport somewhere that is outside the currently loaded area, you have a loading screen when you pass through the teleporter. You also can’t see what’s on the other side until after the loading screen is done.
Exploration. I think that’s the single biggest difference. Boundless feels massive, with tons of biomes, it feels like a universe. I also like actual mining’ as opposed to how Creativerse does things.
I think Boundless has more precise controls also, Creativerse always felt floaty to me.
Thanks for the responses.
Yeah I picked it up last night.
It’s more than I expected, game is dope.
I played Creativerse for over a hundred hours. Primary difference is that this is an MMO and Creativerse was simply a voxel building game.
Creativerse has a larger variety of blocks and designs to choose from. Their machines are pretty cool. Far better than Boundless. Those are really the only advantages. I got bored because it’s a solo game and I’m not building enthusiast. Partly the reason why Minecraft never interested me.
Despite being out of EA, Boundless is still in the early stages of its development and I call tell the Devs put alot of thought into game design. The crafting tree is deep and will get deeper. The player economy is robust. There is a bigger sense of exploration than you get from Creativerse. However, I do think that exploration is still generic given it feels a bit like procedural generation. Outside of the resources and the color scheme for each planet, there isn’t enough to differentiate them from each other. I’m not a big fan of how you to grind for the crafting and would like PVE (or PVP, if appropriate) content for those who want a more “engaging” way of getting mid to high tier items.
With this said, I think it’s a fun game especially if you want to try an voxel-based MMO. There really aren’t enough of those out there.
PS- I disagree with @ctrl-64 that you had to pay for the cooler blocks in Creativerse . I have a crapton of ingame coins that I still hadn’t used. But minor point.
it wasn’t that the purchased blocks were the coolest… my favourite block was actually the dark peakstone…
You must not have bought much then . coins are only acquired with real money or special offers like logging on by a certain date after an update or buying into the game before it went free to play… I ended up buying a lot of block packs (only ones that had recipes, I don’t like to have to pay every time you want something, like block packs.
) I was almost always out of coin
my favorite blocks were the decorative obsidian blocks.
I really miss the white blocks. Forget the name. Wish they were made available here
yeah there’s quite a few blocks that i loved and wished boundless had
And oh…what about that machine that propels you up 10 blocks or that you can chain and turn into a mini roller coaster. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee…
while i only had 200 hours in creativerse and i did like alot of the block choices it had compared to boundless (boundless lacks in block choices at mo but its enough) boundless certainly has more to offer gameplay wise and beats creativerse in most area’s so if you enjoyed creativerse you will love boundless.
Aye. Those blocks! The white tan color can add so much contrast in many design builds in Boundless.
