Is there a way for items that go into smart stack when shift-clicking to inventory/storage to only consolidate into stacks of their own exact item name?
For example if I only want gold alloys to go into gold alloy smart stack. I dont want to mix titanium alloy, silver alloy and gold alloy into one.
How can one achieve this without tedious manually draggin and dropping of each item? Would be nice if this could be achieve with a specific hotkey combination (for example Shift-Ctrl-LeftMouseButton.)

If you have a stack of titanium ones in the shelf already when you shift click they will go into the corresponding stack. But thatâs the only way they wonât get put together. And when that one stack gets full youâll have to make a new one manually for the shift click to work again.

Shift-clicking stacks WILL drop common items together so long as the stack already exists. If the stack fills up itâll push the overflow into the next âlikeâ stack, or make a combined stack if none are within range. Provided a bit of a visual, hope it helps

Ah yes you are right. So I just need to have those stacks already put into the storage. Then shift-clicking will put to those existing stacks.
However I do still need to manually put a stack there first. Say a stack gets filled and I shift-click something: now there is no free stack for that item and then the game will again mix it into any free smart stack of that type, instead of placing it in a new spot for itself. I guess there is no solution then for this other than manually placing a new stack?.
It is a pain, but having a designated place for everything youâre wanting to sort/save is the way to go. You can split stacks and put items in as placeholders, that way when you unload, say, a SS of orbs or ingots, they only go with their like items. Hereâs how I store my stuff:

@anon69675157 yes exactly this is what I just realized. the system could do with an storage slot designation option I think. If we could set each storage slot to only allow a specific item, thatâd be neat. Maybe in a future update, eh?

Yup. Letâs just say Iâve often longed for perhaps a slighty âdumbâ option of the smart stack.

I would like special storage blocks that store only pure stacks, e.g. only black sedimentary rock, but no black meta nor red sedi.

Oh also, or just a hotkey combo for that.

They wonât give us a hotkey because of the console players. 
Itâs more tedium but you can also make artificially full smart stacks to merge items into.
Itâs tedious though. But I use it in a few places especially for items that I get a few of now and then and donât want mixing into other stacks.
