I am asking because most of you old players know the issues i have - I will explain once more.
Its not that i hate Guilds/Communities exactly… Its mainly because the Communities in a game like this don’t seem to work well for me at all I will explain why Personal Opinion only
Before i go offending anyone i would like you all to know that i love you guys (even though i had a few issues with some)
-
whenever i had tried to join a community in-game before I kind of felt pressured to follow the herd. As much as it was fun trying to work with/along-side the Therka/Aqua/Elop guys it also (to me) felt kind of forced meaning:
-
I did not feel that i could honestly still do my own thing within those communities
-
I know a lot of you have your themes but… whats wrong with building a mud/stone/compact iron house at the end of a street? (as an example)
I honestly don’t know if it is my autism coming into effect here or not, but other games (lets take Minecraft for instance) - yeh ok… you coulld work towards a common goal (while doing your own thing)
Or World of Warcraft/SWTOR/ETC - you joined a guild to do dungeons/raids/make quests easier - but it never felt forced
I don’t know if you guys get me or not? - another example i can use - as a better one and im sorry for brining it up)
Is some communities LOVE to lay claim to their own planet (remember how *** some people got about certain roads taking over a single planet and etc?)
my point is how will people approach this kind of thing… (how will the devs/players make it fair and not all for one… all for me?)
As i say, honestly no offence meant, I am just trying to understand… Because as much as i love being solo (reasons above) its also very lonely and you get over-run very quickly

Make your own guild is my suggestion. This seems like a pretty social MMO, you might have trouble finding what you’re looking for.

It looks like functional guilds will be better for you - ones that are there to organize hunts or mining expeditions or building a large temple together or just group people of one profession to help them recognize best ways of working and how to be profitable from it;
if it comes to settlements, you might be better to stay on your own and not join guilds that plan building specific style cities and all;

so kind of like only join a guild to my specific needs?
I could go for that…
Is anyone going to make a guild which combines a few things (today we are hunting XYZ… today we are building the Temple… today we do this) etc and in the mean time you can do as you wish ofc, you can anyway… no one forrces you to join a hunt
I would think of creating my own guild for that kind of thing… but
1 making your own and being a leader is exhausting
2 i had experience GMing WoW which is the main reason i left for a time
(left WOW that is)
3 Those who know me… who would actually join a guild i build?

in general idea is that you can belong to a few guilds so for sure there will be guilds out there that can accomodate players without putting too much restrictions on them;
so you can end up being in a building guild that doesn’t go for specific style settlement, the same time you can be a part of miners association
and then also be in a hunters guild
i imagine 2 types of guilds at least:
- you belong here and all you do is for the guild (build set of bases, maintaing portals, running shops, gathering resources and crafting)
- lose group of players that uses guild system only to organize events and communicate easier; all you get from events is yours or maybe only small percentage of your gains go to guilds storage/vault and you keep most

its been stated long time ago that you can be a part of more than one guild
its really to you as a player what kind of guild you prefer
or maybe no guild membership at all?
you are always welcome to be a miner/hunter - well, resource provider for ArkBound
either as a contracted seller for us, or more tightly connected - you give half of your gathered items to the guild, you get tools crafted by the guild to mine/hunt/gather; half of resources you keep from each trip you use for your own needs the way you want (either craft on your own what you need, sell it, you use it for your own builds)

I would suggest a more lose structured guild for you. May be one who encourage internal trading and hagling and may be also some smaller gatherings for hunting or simillar, but not forced on any way. Also, there will be inner capital activities as well which don’t even have to be a guild in ingame matters. Just do what you want when ever you want!

Honestly, it’s why I left the Boundless guild I did along with some other reasons I don’t want to get into publicly.
The issue I have is it’s challenging to personally find people that share the same kind of motivations and ambitions as myself that I can work well with. It’s challenging in a game like Boundless because of how a lot of the folks I would like to do things with, such as a guild, have their own personal projects they’d like to work on rather than a guild or community project. I am guilty of this too.
When I joined a guild and basically said I am a miner, I kept seeing this announcement that the guild needs tons of materials. Materials that I am not willing to spare cause it would put all the stuff that I want to do on hold for long periods of time. In addition to that, the guild projects and community stuff was never something I saw I’d get any kind of value from. I am a merchant and miner and when/if PvP is implemented, I’d do a little bit of that on the side. So to me, if I am not earning coin of an amount that makes it worth my time and effort then I simply won’t help. I think a lot of merchant-style players can feel similar to that.
The real issue I think that exists with the whole community building or guild thing is on an organizational and management level. A flaw that seems to always creep up is that the leadership of these communities and guilds are the ones that benefit the most while everyone else struggles to catch up or keep up and it almost like their efforts would probably best spent building their own projects than contributing to a group project that brings zero value to the person.
It’s why I am guildless and not part of any particular community that someone has built inside Boundless. /shrugs

Full disclosure: My least favorite part of every MMO is the usually the second ‘M’.
But you just summed up the broader problem with human civilizations in general.

This game not just let u create the building only,
You can create the system as well.
Players create the portal seeker system network.
Players create the guild system u don’t like.
How about you create a better guild system for more players ?
This is wut i am trying to do right now.
People will always find wut they need at the end

Me too. I have ran guilds, but, nothing ever required. If someone really really wanted to donate I would accept only if I new their mind was set on it and they could easily afford it (I had more than anyone I knew in like WoW). My purpose was to help new people and then if they felt like staying there I would help them organize raids or whatever it was they wanted to do with volunteers. Nobody ever forced to do anything other than be kind to allies and newbies and assist others as I and my people had assisted them when they were learning, but, even that only if they had the time. If they didn’t have the time I told everyone to refer people to me and I generally could make time (I was bored in WoW pretty quickly at top level). Other people’s guilds? They always seemed to be saying what I had to do and when to help what they wanted to do be a success. I left each I joined within a few weeks before starting my own to assist people. Same in other games. Boundless is very well suited to solo play without needing assistance.
