Maybe this is common knowledge, but I just figured it out last night. When you see a roadrunner, grab it with your grapple. It will get launched toward you for a second, giving you an opportunity to shoot it. If you miss or don’t kill it, you can run after it with it still grappled. Keep using the R key to reel it in and it will eventually get launched back to again for you to take another shot.
I killed several last night doing this very easily.
I just creep towards them, and try to one shot snipe them.
How well does creeping work? I was hunting Roadrunners last night and I tried creeping but I’m unsure of the stealth range on creep? I said to hell with it and just used my Gold grapple

My favorite way to hunt them is to direct them into Lava 
Creep supposedly lower your aggro range, but I also have some agility which decreases agrro range too.
I chase with a totem and smack them upside the head.
You can also just make them run into a cliffside and they will run in place for a while so you can catch up to them
Then BOOM, founders totem to the temple. Easy, breeze, is the oortmane way to do it.
On Roadrunners, do they just never drop oortstone anymore or have I just been really unlucky?
Unlucky. They drop it but very rarely. If you need oortstones it’s easier to do lvl1 meteorite on lvl3 world.
Echoing this. Over an hour or two I tend to come back with about 100 Oort stones on t3 planets.
However that is completely dependent on meteor spawns. I’ve had an issue a few times where I didn’t find but 2-3 meteors over the course of an hour. That’s rare but does happen
i agree that meteors are definately a better payout for oort, grappling does work but i find it better to grapple the ground infront of them and zip over shootin on the way (higher speed reel in recommended) not giving them the chance to run…
Oh iv no shortage of Oort my main characters a hunter, was just wondering if they still dropped them. Thanks for the advice all the same
They will drop on higher tier planets (t5) and also depends on your luck skill. I never got an oort stone from t3. But collected a few stones last night on T5
