I need a Update on the Update!

They were using EA as “early access”, I think

Gah! Too many of the same acronyms! I’m going back to sleep… it’s safer for everyone that way!

Ignore my attempt at placating then - nothing to see here, move along

You might got me wrong, I also still like the direction B< is heading into very much (at least most of it). I´m just complaining because they started to drop & change core-gameplay concepts without even elaborating the changes to the community (again, I´m not complaining about the change itself, just about the amount of information we got about it) (let alone asking for the opinion of the community)

Thats’s the point, the devs should share concepts of things like that. We should not be required to deconstruct game files in order to get such information.

possibly tomorrow! wooot great news. Hopefully there will be a list of what is different in the c++ version when the beta build is released to steam.

James, not going to offend you, but this news needs, NEEDS to be on more then just a reply on the forums. Yes, it’s great news, but this kind of new deserves its on thread so EVERYONE can see! I’m so excited for the C++!

I don’t wanna sound like an emotionless robot, which I realize that I am in most of my posts, but if we are forcing you guys in the office to push out the C++ ahead of schedule, and there are still things you wanna add or are not sure about, work on them, and have it go on for a few more days. Too many games have fallen because of long periods of no updates, and then only a few premature updates.

Again,I’m pretty sure we’re just saying to talk to us more, are you even there anymore?
We are all here because we took a investment in a EA game, one that we knew would get a lot of hate because it looked like MC,one that was very expensive depending on when and how much you spent on it,and knowing it could fail and completely stop developing altogether, along with our hopes, money, time, and work.
And after all that, we are still here trying out best, even though we can’t actually make the game,we make the the community,no matter how many things you add,or things you promise, you guys can’t make a community, specially if you keep them in the dark as long as you have now.

But,this is not me telling you guys how to do you job,but we need to talk. There’s only so many players we can handle before we need to talk to the people in charge. Because,no matter how little of a contribution I’ve given to the community and to the game itself for its development,I’ve still given it,so I want to make SURE that I didn’t waste my money, and time. The only way we can do that is to talk to the devs.
So again, all I’m asking is to talk to the devs, only one developer has post something on this topic, out of 18 you’d think they’d be more concerned,I mean this is obviously something we’re concerned about. So please talk to us!!!

Sorry for the small rant,I HAD to get this out,and I think I’m going to be a bit more honest and blunt about what I say. So if I seem mean or rude,it’s nothing against you, just how I’ll be holding myself from now on.

When we publish the update I willl make a post to Announcements. But as a reminder this initial C++ version is about testing stability. A massive amount of code has changed and there will be crashes. This C++ version will be in beta for a while until we feel the stability and features surpass the current live version.

Me luvs betas and me luvs crashes … cuz every crash is a chance to avoid this kind of crash in the future! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I like the state of the game as it is right now except the performance. I love the building aspect even though I always want to create bigger structures than I’m capable of alone. And building with others can be so confusing because I don’t want to limit them or tell them what to build, but all of a sudden there is a new structure in your yard which you did not expect and you’re forced to adapt to it with ones own ideas. Very challenging aspect of the game.

I believe a transcription into another scripting language will bring a performance boost (hopefully). My very rough suggestion is not to only rely on either GPU or Processor. I think every game does it differently. I experienced games which are heavily processor driven and don’t even scratch on the GPU’s potential. I have a pretty good GPU, but my processor is rubbish.

I experience Boundless very impressive with a large viewing distance with all soil details. Those two aspects are heavy on system ressources especially the detail level or resoultion of the grid in distant places. There are one or two other detail options whoch could be left out because I could not find a difference.

Viewing distance is imo most important because it helps you to navigate and even more find other players’ builds. With limited viewing distance one gets the feeling of being alone in a world quite fast. But in enhanced view mode you see a lot of buildings and landscapes in the distance wich evokes curious feelings of discovering those places. So I can’t really understand players complaining there is never s.o. only because they don’t find anybody ingame. The forum is full of people and furthemore the wolrds are full of builds. So possibilites to interact with other peoples builds are there. Even if there has not been an update for such long time.

This may of been answered already but will the two worlds that the beta will start out with be deleted during the testing phase or maybe when 1.0 is released? Very excited to help crash the game… i mean play the game to help test  Any more details you can give like a time frame or letting us know as soon as you know if its going to be delayed to a different day would help my F5 key not to break. Thanks and good luck on the beta release going as smoothly as you might hope.

The testing worlds that are coming with this development release will be thrown away as we iterate the development.

The current Early Access release will remain with the current worlds if you want something that lasts longer.

I’m all for playing on the test servers. I was just curious. Already have stuff in the current worlds that i made several months ago. Don’t remember what world i played on though… but i did have a huuuge christmas tree that one day turned red i guess because of some block changes.

you are not the only one XD 5 minuts play and i found 3-4 bugs ^^

First of all thanks for the update. It’s an amazing performance gain and i hope to see a lot of new stuff in the future

This question has been fully answered by @KuroKuma and @Vastar. I like to add that it’s not that we “turned” we just expressing our doubts. If (for example i) had turned i’d abandon this forum and never look back but as you see i’m here expressing what’s bothering me. I really hope this game will be “the next MMO” and therefore I’m trying to show problems instead of accept everything as “super” which it not is.

For a lot of other things mentioned here i’ve wrote a long answer in the hope to clarify ambiguities in this topic.
