I think in different places ice should melt fast, slow,or not at all. I have been looking around at the therka market and I have seen a few ice structures. I think it would make the game a hole lot better.
i understand the realism aspect, but are you saying you think the game would be better because you don’t like seeing ice sculptures in Therka? I personally love the lighting effects that ice structures can bring to ANY build, as well as the “dangerous ground” aspect they can bring to any obstacle course.
Currently, ice has only one use, and that is for building. If ice melted, it would become about as untouched as silver ore
I consider ice should stay as a block unless intentionally melted by players.
Ice as a building block is very interesting, and should remain frozen under the protection of a beacon. There’s a limit to how much realism you can place in a sandbox game, when it goes for fun and just turns into a representation of the real world, making it much less appealing.
Maybe an interesting mechanic would be if ice melted only if it was directly exposed to the Sun, i.e. it’s the top most block in column. But I do agree that not everything needs to be real life like.
No, I’m saying it would make the game more interesting. And not specifically Therka.
I think that is a great idea
We would need to make sure that any system that changes the world, for example a melting simulation, doesn’t conflict with the world regen system and player beacons.
It possible that we could add (some sort of) snow weather system that is transitory, it would gather whilst snowing, then melt away afterwards - but doesn’t permanently alter the world.
Yes, except it that means it mite melt in the Arctic.
I think so to
i think ice should have its own set of craftable decorative textures, as someone said the lighting effects are pretty neat
