What made Range op is the fact that 7m would make an 15 blocks diameter. SO when you go mine for gems that spawn between 3-20 then you uncover pretty much the entire area in like 3 sec which make no sense at all. It’s just a matter of time. You will find the same amount but in more time and by using more resources if the range is lower

If you are proposing 5 m as the end game radius for bombs, this doesn’t compare to end game current hammers in terms of gems, metals or xp. A 5 m bomb is inferior in every way.

What are the current numbers for gems harvesting right now, i did not mine a lot lately.

600-1000 with max level hammers on T6 planets in concentrated gem areas. 300+ consistently for emeralds/amethysts. Diamonds more hit or miss.

This is for an hour ?

To me higher level bombs recipes are too cheap if those are mean to be used for mining; use same cloth and bomb charge increase is not matching with higher level glues :confused:

He’s been bragging about it everywhere :stuck_out_tongue: But when I got just a stupid diamond cross hammer that has not damage boon, nor speed boon, and wen’t on Alcyon… damn in two hours i got 180 diamonds, but I don’t count iron, copper, titanium, gold and coal I got too (at least 720 Hard Coal)… because I mine all resources there are to mine. Not to mention the stones that I use to level alts :joy:

Forgot to mention, I have MY hotspot, certainly not the best one, because diamonds are very sparse there. :wink:

yeah, it’s crazy good mining with end level

it’s comparable to 6m bomb, but with bomb you would be more consistent around the 1k

but you are talking about gems hammer with high boons level, you could do that with titanium bomb and it is easy to get that 3 extra range

sure, that is easier no doubt about it. I’m arguing radius though. I think 5 m cap is too small. At least 6 m if they go that route.

And with these numbers i bring back on alcyon i was mining everything, could get more than this if i was just focusing on gems

Do you remember what type of forged hammer you used here?

My thought is that bombs were never invented to use as a mining technique that trumped hammers. They were for fighting, and healing. Then we curious humans, went out blowing stuff up and realized who needs a hammer at all. In fact the xp was better, and one could amass thousands an hour.

Not saying bombs needed such a nerf as they recieved, BUT this “irony” is also ironic, because, Just because something is fun, and netting a few, buttloads of resources that literally was leaving absolutely nothing for the rest of the universe, doesn’t mean it is as designed.

Just because a few are enjoying the hell out of the buttloads of extra goods and experience their getting over everyone else, due to a workaround of the pace and progress intended by the dev’s , does not mean they have to leave it in game. The testing I’ve witnessed now after the nerf, is that players are getting about the same amount of gems mining as hammering. So it’s now a do you like blowing stuff up or beating it up choice of whats more fun. Which leads back to it was the amount you obtained not the fun your missing.

Also the more ironic thing to me is that it’s the multi level 50’s that run to the forums in the first place announcing how op something is and the tricks to do it in great detail, to get it nerfed before the masses can duplicate it. I guess there is bonuses to being on top for as long as one can stay there.

Back in pre-1.0 when we went meteor hunting, we would do two things. first, we would build a tower to grapple up to. enemies had bomb abilities and wildstock would charge you. if you were hanging, they couldn’t hit you as easily. second, we would dig pits under the portals. then when pretty much everything except cuttletrunks spawned, they would fall down into the pits and be unable to get out. Unless I miss my guess, the devs intended for this to happen in 1.0 with bombs to be able to hit everything in the pit in one go so you didn’t have to spam slingbow shots. This was also before the fist weapon even existed.

The problem started with the centraforge. It could have been a nice addition, but instead it became a pain. Removing AoE by default for certain tools now forces us to use forge and just added a long and painful grind. Give us back the AoE by hymmertype please or make it a LOT easier to create AoE Hammers/Shovels with the forge…

You dont keep people motivated by constantly moving the goalpost or making it harder to do what this game is built around… Building cool stuff.

I am a big fan of this game, but if you keep making it harder for players to actually build stuff you will end up with a handful of hardcore players and a lot of empty planets in the long run. Forcing players to invest more and more time for the same goal is not a good concept and never has been.
