Is it supposed to be "that" dark ingame

I think part of the reason why the lighting is much weaker now, or mostly the lamps are, is because of how clusters of light used to be so intense before the texture update.

Sorry for capturing my entire screen. I can’t take screenshots with F12 because that is the button on my laptop that turns wifi off and on.

Attached are a few images for reference and for comparison with Zouls so he knows where I, and others with lighting issues, are coming from. The first picture is of a very dim moon with time set at ctrl-0. The second is overlooking a forest on a cliff at time ctrl-0. The last is looking at a torch for a distance of 1 block away in a small room.

I agree that it should be hard to see at night, but not as impossible as it currently is for me. And if my inside torch lit up as much as your inside torch, I’d be much happier in terms of design because right now my builds are either entirely gleam or they have torches covering every other wall space. So thank you for addressing this soon, Ben, even if some players aren’t experiencing issues.

Update: I also went through and changed each of my settings one by one to make them match yours, @Zouls, and the lighting didn’t change. So it’s possibly (probably?) a graphics issue for my system and not the game?

Edit: The lighting didn’t change for the torch. I didn’t test it outside as draw distance kills my computer at epic or above when I’m outside.

i dunno. this was a small area where i used stone chunks to block out all light. not sure what else there is too it. but i know it was a problem before, where the game was really dark.
