It’s been a while since I’ve played, and I wanted to see if there was leaf decay in yet. I remember one of the biggest frustrations I had was clearing out tree leaves after removing the trunk, so if that’s fixed I’d probably play some more
Nope I need to make this post 10 characters.
its not and I dont think there is any plans for it atm
If you live in an area with Lustrous Trees, you can dig out the last two layers of trunk (they’re generally underground) and then hollow the inside of the tree out. Obviously, it doesn’t yield as much as cutting down the whole tree but it keeps the landscape free of floating canopies.
This was either addressed here or in the creativerse forum: Since leaves provide resources (in the form of place-able leaves/berries), leaf decay wouldn’t be a viable system to implement. How would the leaves drop their resources? Would there just be tons of place-able blocks lying all over the ground until someone picked them up? if you came across a deforested region would you find an entire field of beacon fuel and free health?
Minecraft leaves only drop tree seeds, and do so even when decaying, but to have berries and leaf blocks, which can even act as a crafting recipe, drop in Boundless on their own would negate the necessity for the player to take any action to gain those resources, and this game is an RPG after all. Nothing comes for free
You can clear leaves a lot faster now with a copper or silver swift axe and a few points in power and dexterity. Plus, the xp and resource drops from leaves makes it worth it to clear then manually, even if it does take a few minutes.
I mean they could just make leaves that naturally decay have a much lower chance of dropping stuff, so if you wanted to collect the resources they dropped it would be best to clear it by hand, but if you just want to remove the tree you could still clear the trunk and have the leaves disappear.
sure, actually i really like that idea if you gave leaves like a 20 minute time limit before they started to disappear, then they would have maybe a 10% of normal chance to drop their block/loot. Good idea!
