Is this game like Trove?

I’ve been desperate to find a game I can play that doesn’t involve 74 hotbars and 2850 buttons I have to mash to kill something. Games that I’ve played in the past have just been an absolute button-fest and I’m quite sick of it. This doesn’t appear to be like that and I am kind of digging some of the simplicity about the game itself. It appears to have some depth and the “leveling” doesn’t appear to be too complicated.

So, here is the question though, I found this game just about the same time I’ve found Trove and I hate to say it but they sure seem very similar, am I wrong?

I’ve been trying to get a feel for the community as well, I don’t want to be the only old fart to play this game  I’m 48 but still very much a kid at heart. Anyway, any help is appreciated. Thank you!

It’s only like Trove at surface level. A few points to compare on:

  1. Trove is very much combat orientated - Boundless is much more building/exploration orientated.
  2. Boundless’ graphics is significantly better than Trove’s with a focus on the look of planets
  3. Boundless is much more an MMO - everything that you build is in shared permanent world space. No base porting along with you, no instant travel to private club worlds, etc.
  4. Boundless has no dungeons - the combat system is much more trivial than Trove’s - just fight and kill mobs. For group combat it’s the same just with more players and more mobs.
  5. Trove has a very childish feel to it and the F2P element helps to draw “less mature” members of the gaming audience. Boundless has more complex systems (crafting, beacons, portal networks) that lend themselves to a more cultivated gaming audience.
  6. Trove is much more single-player in a multi-player world than Boundless is. Boundless uniquely encourages a collaborative multi-player experience (there is no PVP, there are no direct competitive elements). In Boundless you can expect friendlier greetings from your fellow players when you encounter them and more offers to help with objectives than to offer insult. Even the single-player experience is less “isolated” due to the nature of the game’s community.

Perfect response, very informative. Would you say the upgraded “perks” are worth it for the pledge? Considering I have only seen YouTube videos of different aspects, I can’t really tell. Thanks again!

played trove from alpha and I agree it have a way diffrent feeling to it that boundless do.
Boundless have a relaxing atmosphere when it comes to Multiplayer and interaktion with other people inmy mind.

Also in trove you dont really feel at home in you Club / small plot. But here you can expand as you want or just move + lot more block choices not just bland colers. ^^

I’ll hope you join us if you like building, grinding and mining  not much pvm yet but its there

At the moment that purely depends on how much you build and how active you are - from a time perspective they are “worth it” if you build a lot but don’t farm a lot. They’re only in-game benefit is the rate at which you gain extra plots (everyone can gain an infinite amount by farming them). Plots are how you claim space to build on.

Most people buy the packs to show support to the development team. To give an example I have the second highest level of supporter package (100% bonus plots) but have more than 50% free plots - thus I’m not using any I have gained from any of the supporter package levels yet (I am an active farmer but not an active builder).

That answered my next question actually, lol. The building plots  I guess I’m just looking to have some fun, find some friends, be a part of a community, etc. Been a very long time since that’s happened. Thanks for the responses guys!
