So, finally I bought the game and, first of all, looking for people to play but tomorrow, cus today is my birthday yay! anyway, i just wanted to see these graphics and im not sure of one thing. i had them all on max and it lagged but it even lagged in medium, is it because its stil pre-alpha or because of the internet? anyone can explain me this? i’ve seen some videos on youtube and @Squidgy also lags through out the whole video but he seems to have also a good pc. in comparison, i can play mad max all maxed out and it doesnt lag, or almost all maxed out.
Right now the devs are converting the game to be programmed in C++ which will yield dramatic performance increases. Also you should play on a server close to where you are located, but there will still probably be some lag.
I have a great rig and it does seem to struggle maintaining 60+ fps above most medium settings. Some settings affect fps more than others so experiment.

Are you experiencing lag (high ping) or low fps?
(You can see that information in the top right corner of the screen if you press two times “.”.
If it´s just your ping then this might help:

Yep, it’s probably just an alpha performance thing. I know @Zouls has mentioned a few times that he has a pretty great rig that can’t quite handle max everything. As @Combatman12 pointed out, the conversion should help.
In terms of not seeing many people online, this has been brought up numerous times over the last few weeks and I know you’ve been keeping tabs on the forums for a bit now. So I’d encourage you to check out the search functionality or to browse the forums a bit more to learn why it’s hard to find people playing right now!

I cant play maxed out on 16 gb of ram and a gtx 970. But that is purely a matter of optimization which will come over time.
But it´s definitely possible to play B< on ultra settings atm 
Possible? Definitely! Optimal? Questionable.

My computer isn’t that good but it’s much better than my macbook was.
I don’t notice the lag at all, but I’m used to playing games at 30fps (console).
I’d say the performance issues are mostly down to alpha, but I don’t think it will get much better from here, just slight increases. It’s a damn good looking game.

Also a bit of a n00b here, loving the game and just now joining the community / forums.
Are there any good resources for the game? I’ve been on the wiki but i’m still not finding things like basic crafting recipes and starting tips. I would love to know how to learn everything - find resources to absorb, rather than just trying to figure it all out intuitively. Would love to hear your recommendations! Cheers

i believe it’s simply a crafting combo of stone & glass to make the beacon & plotters, both. glass from sand & stone from broken stones.

By pressing “.” you can switch through HUD settings where also is a debug view with coordinates. Whith this you can find you more easily
