Looks like the entire market area, the bridge to the hotel and art on the mountain have been effected

Before jumping to conclusions consider that it may be a new player who doesn’t know any better. I’d say let the devs handle it from here.

Yea…I hope the Devs can shed some light on it. We try so hard to welcome new players and share the beautiful builds and resources people have gathered…it really makes me sad (and this isn’t the first time its been griefed )
Going to have to disagree here- the degree of randomness and targeted damage strongly supports the assertion that this is deliberate grief. By the looks of it, they took their time and thoroughly wrecked everything in sight. This is no newbie that does not know better, they know exactly how to cause the most grief possible. Probably not their first time, I bet they do this on MC any time they get a chance.

It looks like it may have been done from explosive arrows too, as the damage is all clumped together (and inside beacons).
I don’t think explosive arrows work inside beacons do they? I’m sure I tested that at some point when I first started playing (not on Lapas of course!), and it didn’t work then.
Is it just the capital that is affected or any surrounding builds on the same world?
EDIT: Just had a good walk around and damage caused is not actually within beacons. Seems to me that someone really wanted some lamps as a whole bunch of them were systematically removed from around the Block Depot, and most of the gleam has gone from inside. The rest just seems to be wanton destruction with explosive arrows.
I’ve repaired what I can (thank my cough and the inability to sleep!)… roads, block depot, the Lapas sign, walkways, roadside shops, a main building by the side of the road… but things like The Frosty Shrub are a little beyond what I can do basic repairs to.

Thank you so much! I didn’t have time to do more than take pics yesterday. I haven’t been on in quite a while so Sikerow and I couldn’t say when it occurred. Lapas is my home world and is very near and dear to me. It makes me so sad that people target such a lovely community build. But…such is the mentality of a griefer…
I just bought this game. I hope the whole community isn’t full of tears like this. It sucks I know but I have logged in several times and NO ONE was on. From what I understand there are beacons to prevent this? Half the stuff I looked at was not built in beaconed areas. There is a mechanic in place to help but its simply not used.
Whoever did this is a ■■■■I know but what do you expect to happen when you…
A. Don’t put a beacon?
B. Don’t even log in for extended periods of time?
I don’t know how to get a beacon but I would really wait til you have said beacon to build such public builds. Again this is alpha so maybe this will one day be easier to defend with PVP.

Beacons are very simplistic and don’t really cover a big volume. So you practically have to build in the open.

You can place more than one. And you can expand them. You have up to 12 beacon qubes you can use^^
And yes you can beacon larger areas but I don’t know if the permission system with the player tokens is already in place.

Beacons are still in a rudimentary “alpha” state, and don’t cover near enough area to actually protect large builds, as was said earlier, but that should not be the case after 1.0 launch.
For now, the rule is simply “don’t be a jerk”, something some Minecraft veterans coming in lately simply can’t seem to abide by. No, damage like this is not “something that should be expected” and it is not “what you deserve” for not building in the beacons. We’ve managed to go for two years of early access with astonishingly low levels of griefers because we play by the Golden Rule. Just because you can get away with it does not make it the least bit acceptable.
Defending this behavior is both wrong, and highly suspect
