Hi everyone, i lately saw a video of the new game no men’s sky. Probably a lot of you have already heard.
They have a cool concept in there, what would in my opinion also fit pretty well to boundless. Till you learned by quests and discoveries you are not able to understand languages of different species. What do you think about boundless in this case? I mean the citizens could speak oort, with the existing letters. And till a player did not find out how to read them he is not able to get quests / or learn from them. Boundless anyway will be much about finding out how things work, so why not also implementing the language like this?
It’s by the way also another way to fill up some of your targeted 100s of gaming hours, a player should need for the 1.0 content @ben
We’re good friends with some of the NMS team, they’re doing a fantastic job. We’ve got some different stuff planned for our language, but I think you’ll be into it.
Amazing, thx for reply. I like to hear that you are linked in some way with these guys too :)) because I also think it’s a project definitely worth to look at.
I wonder if it would be possible to combine a game like B< with NMS… What a thought…
Why do you want to play this game? Exploring? Finding out things yourself? Or do you want a how to, to play through the games as fast as your can and beat the hardest titans?
Well, since it is a sandbox game and since (if I understood right) everything you nearly need to find out yourself,… finding out about the language, is just one more thing to explore and understand and make progress in.
But I already got the answer I wanted to hear anyway and I guess, it’s developing in a way i’ll like a lot.
Having a limitation that other languages are basically just the same english but with different characters (oort alphabet), you can still understand the text if you learnt that alphabet so you can be rewarded multiple ways. IMO it should be opt in, but when you fully show us the concept then I will see which side I fall on.
NMS is a single player game, there talking to npc is a puzzlegame for some extras.
B is a social MMO-game where you talk to a lot of different ppl, friends and others. If i cant do that, or need to learn new languish to know what i am gathering or what to combine or build, then (for me) its a huge obstacle.
It should encourage ppl to talk and interact, not isolate them.
Not all of future player have the interest or time to put in to the game.
But i think they thought of it, and make it come out good.
