When you hit a block with a tool there are several states of cracking. Is this a different texture or an overlay?
Either way, could we have a forge effect that saves the block in one or more of those states?

Yes please
Or a slightly different cracked texture if the devs prefer
Perhaps a new tool to induce the crack effect. Crack pole?
This would go very well with the teased-but-never-released decal feature.
It should be hollow though. More like a pipe
Or an iPhone for symbolic revenge?
long time ago I had this idea that all blocks could have an additional weathered texture - and it would change from the original to weathered after a certain time after a block is placed
so builds would get that old-ish look after a year (real time) or so
ability to change block texture with a shtick sounds good (obviously making the weathered look a choice rather than an effect that happens to all)
anyways - that’s a lot of work adding so many new textures (sure if it’s some kind of overlay identical to all, then it’s easier; but to get really good effect all blocks should have their own weathered effect - or at least a group of similar blocks, like one texture for all stones, one for all refined rock, another one for timber and yet another for marble)
one can dream, right?
They could at least have a few user applicable “weather” textures. Cracked, mossy, rusty, grimy etc.
