Max build height

Hey, can anyone confirm if the max build height post release is still 256, I’m not up that high yet but intend to be, just wanna know. Thanks.

Yes. Have recently built a tower to that height and can’t build any higher.

You can jump to 257…does jumping make you god for a split second… And what blooming good does that do…

With the jump epic you can even go beyond the 257. Beyond Of Beyond. The Unspeakable and Inconceivable.

You get there and you have a 0.000000001% chance to be awarded with Godly Buff.

Actually 256 is the first limit and you can’t build on 257, BUT you can build higher than that and build permission starts again on 258 and goes up to 2056 but what’s funny you will never reach that high :joy:

I remember one of the developers talking about it a while back. That it’s technically possible to increase it. I’d personally prefer double the build height at the cost of half the world size - at least on some planets - or planets with little to no crust.

I think that the current worlds size makes 256 just fine. I would love to build higher but in proportion to size of the planet. Mountains and towers reaching max height look humongous and with more height available, they would make worlds look really tiny and funny.

Thanks for the confirmation guys👍

For the most part I don’t think you’d notice. Players can only see so far into the distance, and that distance doesn’t seem to be anywhere close to a couple thousand blocks away.

For my off the cuff creative builds, I’m fine. I can design them within the bounds of the current build height - but for scale builds of real life structures, there are so many great buildings that won’t fit in the current build height.

A single block is a meter, and we have 256 height to work with (if we were to clear out the landmass down to mantle) in reality we have about 192 blocks to work with (from sea level) - so how does 192m compare to many real life structures you might intend to build?

Golden Gate Bridge: 227m

Eiffel Tower: 300m

The Shard: 306m

Empire State Building: 381m

Burj Khalifa: 828m

Little Japan consists of some fictional builds, but we also mix in some real life builds, such as Osaka Castle (which fits within the current scale), but as we move onto modern Japan, we were planning to build things such as:

Tokyo Tower: 333m

Tokyo Skytree: 634m

If I were to attempt the Skytree, I’d have to build it at quarter height, which wouldn’t have the same effect.

I hope this post is useful to both new players when considering scale building and to the developers for future reference when perhaps considering a different build height (at the cost of distance) on select new planets.

Interesting…there is at least one two-block-tall prop (beacons), I wonder if I build a beacon at 256 would that let me skip 257 and place a regular block on top of it at 258…

Nope. You’d need a prop 3 blocks tall for it.

How’s that, do you mean both 256 and 257 are not buildable?

Hmm…how about those new guild helix things? Are they one piece or two?

Those props are visually taller than a single block, but physically they’re only a single block tall. The next block on top of a beacon is inside the top half of the beacon.

I bet if you put a portal exit at the top of the world with a trampoline slightly below it, then jump down into a portal entrance at terminal velocity, you could bounce even higher. Gonna be one heck of a landing though… :innocent:

Is this the boundless version of “What happens if you turn on the headlights of a space ship traveling at the speed of light?”

If the devs dont add this godly buff when you jump higher than 256, my life wont be complete.

I can confirm. I built a tower to level 255 and then tried to place a beacon. I could not do it. I then broke one block and tried to place the beacon on level 254. I could. However a strange thing happened. Typically you can stand on top of a beacon and you will be 2 blocks above. When placed where I did the top section of the beacon now becomes like a hologram…you can walk through it and not stand on top…which would put your feet on 257. I can still jump higher but that’s it.
