can anyone give me intructions on how to place the metamorphic rock (N S) so that it tiles like (W E)
Dont think you can. Other block patterns are determine by what face you attach it to, such as if you put it on top of another block or on the side.
I have found plain rock has a predesignated pattern according to its specific coordinate.
What does the other side of those walls look like?
Placing it against a N S face should give the block a N S orientation. Placing a block against an E W face should give an E W orientation. I make a row of dummy blocks to place my blocks against then destroy it, if that helps. Also top down may give you the orientation you want… when you jump and place a block below you.
I recently tried to explain how the texture direction of blocks works. Nothing but a visual image helped. Similarly, with all the blocks, I have an example on decorative stones
@Mittins I want to build a wall so the top down orientation will not work for me in this case:S
@MrNiX it is the mirroed version of the other face. still not tiling T.T
@NWrath i know about the different oriantations and how to place decorative and other types of blocks like you showed in your pictures. I just can’t find a way to place the metamorphic rock in a way that gives me the tiling like in the (W E). Also from what i’ve seen on the texture, if placed N S, it is rotated by 90* (bug?). those decorative stones have the same texture on all the faces which lets you have more placement options. Metamorphic rock has just the two opposite sides with that smooth texture, limiting the number of rotations you can make.
Has anyone tried to build with metamorphic in a vertical direction (N S) and get good tiling?
So i added two more rows and the tiling seems to be broken or something.
The texture that should be on top is on the bottom
Did you place the top row (target) against the backing wall, ceiling, or on top of the lower block?
all of them are against the backing wall. currently the only way to get the smooth side and not the stripe side
doing the same thing on the W E side works right out of the box
yeah that looks kinda strange. perhaps the reason for this phenomenon is the layering of the stone in the thickness of the earth’s crust. But it is strange that in another direction does not work.
in any case, this is not your mistake, but a feature of the game
From that large wall in your pic looks like the game is placing the textures in the wrong places. Like those big cracks that somehow jump over a layer of rocks.
I’m gonna make a bug report. Is it ok if i use your pic?
no problem, happy to help
