Mining for Gems is not fun anymore. Here is a rant and some suggestions to fix that

There is a buff to gold tools in the coming patch to bring it in line with the iron hammer - we’ll have to wait and see though.

I always figured that I was missing the point o the gold hammer and that it must be the less energy use meaning we have more strikes per energy bar which ultimately makes it a better tool - then i read it’s simply a junk tool until it gets a buff :stuck_out_tongue:

The language of “in-line” scares me, as a gold tool should not be “in line” with iron, it should be much better (in a game like this). I am excited to test it out, though, and I hope my fears are misplaced.

In minecraft gold was only good for breaking stone quickly, and had a fraction of the durability of anything else high tier. It was really only good for looks. Id argue minecraft is a game like this, although with far less to do therefore less grindy

remember minecraft where gold tools were just bad cause gold is very ductile and heavy?

I’ve actually never played minecraft, I didn’t know there were gold tools.

It’s funny, when people argue that the game is a sandbox and therefor too grindy, people say “It’s an MMO, deal with the grind” and then when people point out that MMO progression is broken the response is “It’s a sandbox game/it works like this in minecraft.” If you want to call back to gold tools in minecraft, maybe we can talk about the context of getting the actual good tools in minecraft? And if we want to look at this as an MMO, Gold is the Tier above Silver which is the Tier a above iron. T4 gear should always be better than T3 which should always be better than T2 (barring very, very specific edge cases).

As it stands, it is a minecraft clone… IT needs more MMO features.

Minecraft was fun, because you could make your own machines with red stone. Elevators and such. Traps… etc

Yeah, the thing that really made me no life minecraft was the machines and tech mods, automation is love, automation is life.

The ps4 would likely blow up if a player walked into a chunk where 20 different people were all running massive redstone machines/underground factories :stuck_out_tongue: Since it’s x platform the old console will always be a limiting factor. The cpu is pants.
The 7 days 2 die team last I heard were having problems getting electricity and traps into ps version and that was just 4 player lobbies

Maybe when PS5 comes out…(Yearish?) it will port over… giving it a little boost?

(Twoish)

They’d still have to run concurrent with ps4 though. They’d have to dump all ps4 user (includes me) and I reckon that’s a no no.

It’s a console they go obsolete. MMO’s persist. It will be on the PS5. Also if it’s like Nintendo games…(WII) They will just cut your line… They also could put PS4 Players in their own hub… Let them slowly die… or just give the PS4 players a offline mode.

I wonder what the servers are that they use and how well optimised it actually is… I heard that there was java involved. Is that true Or just malicious rumour?

It all depends on how much share of the pop is ps4 by then. If it’s sizeable (and follows a lot of cubit purchases come from them) I highly doubt they’d pull the plug.

No legal way to know that, unless you work(ed) for them.

any way to check the player connections by console? give you a rough idea of what it is now.

Yes, I enjoy the game and have no fear of a grind.

I think my post is being taken as a whine that I wanted it all easy which is not the case.

to make it clear. I was simply saying it’s all messed up how resources are at the moment.
Primarily the following should be found in high %
Lvl 1 and 2 = iron copper
lvl 3 and 4 = gold and silver
lvl 5 and 6 = gems/ titanium
but absolutely ever resource should be in absolutely planet - the higher the resource the lower % on lower worlds. New player on a lvl 1 planet who dig up a piece of titanium which has a 0.01% would be overjoyed.

The game currently funnels absolutely every player to 5 and 6 too quickly as Iron tools reign until you can mine or buy Titanium tools - everyone skips silver and gold completely because the tools are junk and gold and silver is probably just as difficult really on a lvl 3/4 as it isto get gems on a 5 and 6.

If the mid resources were more plentiful on 3 and 4 and the tools better then that would see players on a natural progression working their way through planet levels correctlyand tools sequentially and so a reduction of players swarming to 5 and 6 and that possibly in turn allowing more gems and other high end resources on those planets.

My point was simply it’s all out of whack

nah planets progress like a MMO. At low levels junk resources for high levels are scarce. On high levels that stuff is everywhere. Also while on high levels, you can get high level gear. It’s set up, so we will have to world quest to higher and higher levels. They will prob add more mobs, bosses etc as well.

How? This seems like terrible luck or lack of surveying. Are you using your atlas? I grab my atlas, my iron hammer and head out. Stand directly over a hot spot, and dig down. I then work the sides (depending on which gem and planet), I look for the “telltale” signs that a gem could be close by. I get AT LEAST, a few gems each time I dig down, and a handful (35-50) by the time I head home.

I don’t know how. I guess sometimes you just get ■■■■ luck on stuff. Or maybe things are not working as they are suppose to. Heck if I know the whys…all I know is what happened. And yes I use an altas and all that jazz.
