I agree that a big design could be bad in this location because most people will not climb up I think. But hey I like both smaller pattern and a big design. I dont know which way I would go if it were up to me. It was fun to try to make something.
Here is another one (same size as the ravens), but seems like Moebius has made up his mind. =)

I love the “scrollwork” if that’s what it’s called, around the edges, the celtic knot-looking things. If it was up to me I’d go with your raven design
