There’s been off and on talk since I started playing about machines(coils specifically) being a total pain to repair. Mostly due to to no aoe spanner boon.
Instead of a boon/ boon fix, maybe we could get a new machine that repaired all machines in a predefined radius. It could be different tiers with an expanded radius and higher fuel consumption as it ranks up in tiers.
Maybe we could fuel it with the new fuels being teased in the farming update.

oooh or ortbots that wander around fixing coils. then you just have to repair the bots.

I have no problem with repair as it is now, but I think I’d prefer making coils work like spark generators where hitting any 1 repairs all connected to having to build and fuel a whole new machine.

That is what I was imagining, a little Roomba running around repairing! Or maybe a tame cuttletrunk.

Question. How do you repair the auto-repairing machine?
Fuel! It repairs itself. K.i.s.s.
Keep it simple stupid! So clearly fuel is the simplest way to repair it as it repairs itself as well!
Or the little repair roombas sound fun too! A whole new management aspect to the game to have fun with! And if people hate managament mini games they can keep repairing the way we do today!

I was joking.
Just imagined a robot (or a machine) fixing machines, and that robot (machine) is fixed by a robot (machine) that is fixed by a robot (machine) that is fixed by yet another robot (machine)… and so on

I was just teasing as well! Wish there was a way besides throwing up emojis to show it’s a tease post. So easy to not deliver ones humor over the web.
E: I really like @bucfanpaka idea of a roomba repair bot though, makes me think of nanobots.

didn’t take offense, no worries - true though that it’s hard to transfer level of joking (slight tease, laughing out loud and so on)
anyways, I would be happy with AoE spanners for starters

I like the robot idea.
Or even a golem made out of clay, or iron. Iron golems are tough.
Plus they might make good company.

This could be one of several pets. One pet that follows you and acts as storage, one that fights, one that repairs so you don’t have to! Could be some challenging and expensive quests to unlock each. nice little bit of endgame content added.

Wildstock being your mule, Spitter being your dog, and just imagined Hunter (although she has a new name now) ghosting around your machine room and repairing…

That’s a good idea… in my case it would reduce repairs of 25 pieces (1 machine + 24 coils) to 7 pieces (1 machine + 6 stacks of coils) and it could be even better if you build like i saw it in [PS] guildhouse (they stacked them into 4 walls à 6 coils so 5 pieces) so thats not bad.
An auto repair machine is not needed imo because it disrupts the concept of the game as everything is supposed to break if you don’t do sth about it (time + your wrench breaks) but I would go a bit further at this point and say for a good usability you can repair the coils if you repair the machine that they are connected to. The “HP” could be multiplied by the number of items connected to eachother and so you get a “bigger machine” if its coiled but can repair it by repairing more HP on one item, which makes it more handy (and doesn’t let you die getting between the machine and the coils trying to repair).
The coils would still break if you didn’t fuel the repair machine.
The idea of this machine wouldn’t be an idea at all if we could aoe repair coils in the first place. Assuming they can’t fix the aoe boon for spanners, how else would you propose a solution?
Also, the repair machine would still have to be repaired as well, so I don’t quite get how it would disrupt the nature of the game.
It might be considered name calling, according to the CoC.
Oh sry, I read somewhere (maybe not your post) that they repair themselfes.
So yeah, that’s almost the same as I thought except you need another machine + fuel in your case which is (I don’t know the code) perhaps more difficult to develop as changing existing objects / rules.
The new machine could be nice if there is need for sth new or its easier to develop but could also cause problems in placing it since you already have to spare 24 blocks around the machine for coils.
So the space may not be the problem but placing it symmetrical if you are building this way (1 machine (4 blocks) 1 repair machine (4? blocks) 24 coils (24 blocks)) could be problematic.
Just a little bump since I was thinking about this one (again) today…
Maybe?
Even spark generator style repairs for grouped coils/machines!
