Would it be an option to get a new planet type called “cataclysmic”. This planet type would be mid collision with either another planet or meteor shower where you would have craters that may be down to bedrock and the dislodged planet “crust” is depicted frozen but “flying” through the atmosphere. It could be a mix of volatile/burn/blast at the points of craters, but lush in the rest of the world.
Just an idea I had, thought it would be neat.
