No Boundless apps..?

Just noticed, in the Google Play Store there don’t seem to be any Boundless apps, no skill calculator etc. This is surprising because almost every game has a companion app or two, often player made.

There are some great websites and spreadsheets that cover everything an app would though.

Boundless has already taken over our lives without an app. I dont want to imagine having an app .

Websites are cross-platform by default, maybe some layout problems but it’s so much easier (at least with my skillset) to deploy a website for something as simple as a skill calculator than a mobile app.

If people do experience usability issues on mobile I’d like to know it, I test my stuff on a limited number of devices and there’s always outliers.

I want an app through which Bob and I can constantly keep picking on one another.

I got you, one second.

So we just need to upload both of your collective minds, and determine who gets to be which. Then a battle to the death.

Simoyd might be able to do this.

Just a thought if someone has the time and ability… there’s definitely a fanbase to use it.

Do you have any concret ideas what kind of app you would like to see?

May need to do a poll to see what people want the most out of these:

  1. Skill Calculator (probably easiest)
  2. Crafting Companion (Basically an app version of Boundless Crafting to show you recipe requirements etc.)
  3. Resource Color Companion App (This would be my #1 choice… Click a planet and it lists the resource colors, or click a resource, color, or resource and color and it shows which planets have them. Whether you want hot pink gleam or white gravel etc.)
  4. Portal building companion, click a planet and it sorts other planets relative to how many blinksecs away they are… (probably a low priority app but would be nice.)
  5. Planetary Companion App… lists all planets by name, click a planet to get all the details - element of enemies, etc.

Something along the lines of these, would be awesome if one app could do it all but that’s probably a pipe dream. Maybe other things as well but if I had to choose #3

Personally I feel a program is unneeded, The websites that had some effort put into them to work on Mobile Telephones should be good enough. I don’t really understand why it needs to be put into a Mobile Telephone Program,

A website is much cleaner

doesn’t require the user to install an program which may or may not have questionable parts to it such as data collection things.

And it doesn’t require the person maintaining the thing to try to code for two different platforms, The „Apple Store“ and the „Play Store“, or risk leaving 50% of the userbase left out if they do not want to code for two platforms.

Let’s get a remote access app so I can just automate my resource and crafting process. Plant management is so much funner than grunting in the mines and farm fields.

Scratch that, you’re right.

What I really want, an app that scans shop stands across all planets!! Probably not possible, but would be amazing.

If I could essentially log in from an app, see all my machines listed in my workshop and the inventory in each one, then queue up some crafts that’ll be done by the time I’m home, I would be very happy.

How about a shop management one that allows you to change prices and notifies you when a stand is empty like we get in-game? I also only put about 10% of my total stock in the stand each time it’s cleared out and have to keep the rest of the stock in storage. If I could put it all in the stand but set how many are available that would be ideal and the app would be that much more useful.

It would be able to put multiple tools into one easy to use place. for instance, I think jivita once showed a link in one of his streams to a hammer damage calculator (to see what dmg numbers each forge boon level, and stat on the tool to make it one shot blocks on X level of planet) that is in someone’s remote storage / self hosted website or some such thing.

An update made me loose all my open pages, and bookmarks on my phone where I kept the thing open, took me hours to figure out which stream had the link in it to find it again.

I would like to have access to that kind of utility without having to go to the 10+ google docs/inforgraphics that the community has created (which are all awesome, just not collected in one area).

This is another big part of why I would use an app if someone made it… the spreadsheets and such are awesome, but an app would be even more awesome! Everything in one place would be epic.

Not an app, but boundlesscrafting.com has alot of features and can be used on your phone very easily.

Any questions about it, @Stretchious created it and updates it regularly :+1:

We have asked for an API (a “web service”) for this kind of things. Devs responded that it’s in the works, but not a priority. Mostly aimed at getting current World map snapshots or Character Records, I assume, but possibly current trade prices.

I would assume it’s a read-only API they’ll release. If you want to actually play the game, you’ll have to log in and play the game. Checking in on shop stands from your phone or desktop to see if they’re empty and you need to refill them would be cool, though.

Speaking of which… the top 50 settlements per planet functionality is up and running again!
