What world are you on?

I dont think its a big no no. Just not implemented yet (in that form or another - but am sure there will be further developments in this regard). I am looking forward to that option (or something similar a long as it can fix the annexation problem) being introduced myself.

I’m on Therka

I hope you’re right, it would be nice if a developer could give a little hint to this affect just to reassure people that it is being worked on perhaps they could also look at the prestige weighting because it seems far too in favour of block builds rather than a lot of other factors … i know it’s a complex issue so isn’t something that can just be fixed overnight

I’ve been to you place ingame … I guess … and honestly I don’t get the problem.
There are plenty of plots between you two and your settlements are not connected.
The only thing i saw was you trying to wall him in with your plots.

Have you already removed some of your stuff to get away from him?

We’re still working on the Beacon, Settlement, Prestige and (future) Clan systems and balance, and continue to iterate them based on player comments and analytics.

(We read all the threads and posts but can’t respond to everything. Sometimes its good to leave the community to discuss stuff without us warping the discussion.)

Yes, I had to do that to preserve the small lake and seperate myself from him, that has used up 46 of my plots which I was planning to use elsewhere … I most definitely haven’t tried to wall him in, the empty plots are just to seperate us, he still has three other directions he can spread out in, why is so important to him to spread in my direction? If I had left him to it he would of been upto my doorstep.

I find the main issue with prestiege is that it (correctly) seems to favour high value blocks (like gleam and gems) which is as it should be… they are so easy to come by

The only bad factor against this is that it is very hard for a specific spec to be able to get the skills tor efine such materials and have to pay vast summs of coin/trade to be able to get hold of the refined blocks for themselves.

Saying this, are we going to see the removed gleam anytime soon in-game? the green/pink/black etc? or have they been removed for a reason?

Thank you James … I guess it does take these kinds of discussions to help see things from all different points of view which hopefully will help to make balanced and fair decisions. … a little thought on the prestige equation, maybe some aspect of duration and activity could also be introduced into it …although I realise that anyone new might not consider it fair

I have thought about this at times, moving a beacon to a Moon or Ring World. But for me, it always seems that those planets have a haze to them and it throws me off. On Vulpto, I always see a green haze in the sky when running around. Now I know that some are toxic planets but I haven’t found an atmosphere like the temperate worlds. I could be wrong though. Now the middle of a lake has promise as does a mountain, Maybe with my alt I may try some of the crafting skills and chisel skills to see how it goes.

I think Andoweem is the best looking world in the game right now, and it is sparsely populated. Personally, I find it a little too remote, but it offers some of the best views in Boundless with no atmospheric haze.

Wow! Definitely a place for an alt or second base of operations when I have the plots.

If I hadn’t invested so much time and trouble into this build then I definitely would of just moved. From the outside it looks pretty modest and simple, just a house perched on top of a small hill overlooking a small lake/pond but I’ve dug a tunnel down to a cave system which is under a body of water so I’ve dug up to let that pour in then added plants and lights to make a little grotto which is where my portal is that goes to Munteen. I’ve also dug a tunnel up inside the hill to the house … lots of work with not a lot to see from the outside … plus I’ve tried to preserve some of the surrounding area

Hi GreyArt247! Interesting reading about your experiences in-game. Having spent months away from the forums, an idea, or maybe it was simply an unconscious urge made me post a new thread yesterday and at the time I also noticed the ‘What turns you off playing Boundless?’ thread. I had a quick scan through and posted about wanting more solo/lone player socialising in-game, my conception was the Oort Collective where players can meet to chat and discuss things… such as your problems… I tend to avoid any conflict or unnecessary stress, like you I just want a quiet way to relax away from the worries of the real world! My icy mountain retreat has been my home for some time, I would not want to have to up-sticks and move from the place I love to be, the views are amazing, feeling secluded is wonderful and being alone to do whatever I like is for me a fun way to spend my time (being here now is taking away my Boundless playing time!) so what I’m saying is, easy-going lone players, people like us, who don’t have a need for fixed communities/busy portal hubs etc and all the problems that go with them… we can come together when someone is in need and help each other out, spending time and resources to do whatever it takes to sort out the problems… someone who needs help… we are there for them. I am only too willing to help you in any way I can, with a move of house if it comes to that, hopefully it won’t!

Hi Qube :slight_smile:thanks for the generous offer and support, it’s very much appreciated… With regards to my situation with my new neighbours I’m slightly in limbo at the moment while I decide to stay or move. Since I’ve removed some plots to disconnect from being assimilated and put up the line of plots to act as a sort of fire break they don’t appeared to of advanced towards my outpost anymore. Obviously this could change at any point but so far them seem content just increasing their prestige within the walls they have made. I did try raising my own settlements prestige to be on a par with theirs but there was no way I could keep up with the phenomenal pace they have set. In the meantime I have decided to spend my time exploring for a potential new site as a backup. If they do keep their distance with regards to plots then I would prefer to stay where I am. I do actually enjoy having neighbours, it’s just this forced prestige assimilation system that I don’t like. Other than that I can’t fault the game, I realise it’s a work in progress and we will have to work through these growing pains and at the end of the day there will be a worldwide wipe so everything we build is only temporary anyway, it would just be nice to remain slightly independent if we want to.

As soon as the world is wiped and we start over, it will start as soon as we can log back in next time.

I think this update makes it harder to plot next to another beacon

I’ll have to have a closer look at the recent update … the only biggest change I noticed was no more meteors on home planets  … i know they haven’t been around for long but I was getting to like them

Ok  thanks for the update, good to know you have things under control… for now at least. I totally agree, it’s nice to remain slightly independent if we want to!

Also I agree with you, no more meteors on home planets  … they’ve not been around for long, I have got to like them now too, such a shame but no matter I take things as I find them… maybe they could be a much less common event on home planets.

Yeah that would be good with the meteorites … something to keep us on our toes and a little event for any new players that wouldn’t be able to handle the much stronger off planet creatures.
