People plotting resource underground

Haha indeed. Though it’s sticky even on a flat surface of it. I’m starting to wonder if it’s just me!

I’m not really saying don’t do it. I was just wondering why. I get that people can do whatever they want, and I guess boxing in a personal mining spot makes sense, the area on serp I was referring to isn’t that, it’s just a giant plotted dug out space that will never regen, which seems a waste. I personally think that boxing off hot spots from other players is rude. But I can’t stop anyone doing it. The game is already a massive unnecessary grind and time sink without people boxing off hotspots making materials required for progression harder to get.

Also I’d say people are mad about it because there’s nothing more annoying then mining along and then finding yourself hindered from continuing by plots, or even worse getting trapped somewhere in them and having to return to sanctum.

My miner cant survive against mobs. So I go to an area that I want to mine, Dig a hole, seal it behind me and build a plot to mine. If I can do it on the side of a mountain, I do. But if I’m looking for lvl 16 resources, that has to be underground.

I’m not really talking about the people that pop a plot or two down to just have sort of a mining safe zone. I mean the people using hundreds of plots to block huge chunks of hot spots in.

I wandered into someone’s mine once (a public one) to look around and while I was in there, they closed the door (with lock). That was pretty funny. I suppose I could have dug myself out but I warped to the portal area instead (100c). I don’t think they intended to trap me…

I was looking for diamonds and I found some in a wall but it was plotted. I was able to dig a few out and then I got inside of the plotted area, after walking around a bit I realized I was trapped and everywhere I tried to dig out. I couldn’t break. Lol after looking for a way out for a while I just ended up returning to sanctum

I have a couple underground mines myself (not closed off). If you ever manage to get stuck in one give me a call, I’ll show you where the fridge is and we can sit down, have a beer and talk about the weird stuff some people do :yum:

I get what you mean, but i think it’s spicing up the game a bit to limit access to end game resources because for now they’re too easy to get. Anyhow, i consider the opinion of everybody and i’m glad to get some feedback. For the grind part, i don’t play the game as a grinding game. I did grind for the first two month but i’m in the building, forging and crafting phase now.

I’m actually perfectly happy with people plotting up Hotspots. You put hundreds of plots on the new planets? Good. More plots o fthose planets means the algorithm gets closer to spitting out more planets. (devs covered this in another thread) so you can have the spot you want. And new planets will pop out.

Granted that is how it’s supposed to work. We shall see how often it come to fruition. Plotting out resources only hurts new players. If you are later in the game and know where to get your gems. You already have a spot that you go to and hasn’t been claimed by someone else.

So I’m fine with you plotting the resources because I’m already past that point. But someone who isn’t could be hampered by these practices. Hurting new players may not be the best way to grow the boundless population. interesting opinions in this thread though.
