People plotting resource underground

What’s the deal with people plotting underground in hot spots for resources? There’s a massive underground line on serp in the best titanium/diamond mining spot now, it’s frustrating getting stuck underground unable to mine further, I understand there’s no rules against this and it’s part of the game but, I’m just wondering why people do this? It’s not like you’re hoarding the resource because it will never regen, and I’m just curious, in the unlikely event that most of a hot spot for a resource gets plotted, does the game automatically redistribute it so the world still has a decent amount of said resource, or are we just SOL in that the resource is that much more rare on said planet? I love mining on serp but I’m running into more and more of these underground plots and it’s really frustrating… Especially when you see diamonds inside a plot unable to mine XD

maybe its some of the areas where some ppl made a box around an area of ressources?
(wich is a bad thing to!)

I’m curious about these resource boxes. If you dig underneath one and then use a regen bomb, will the game warp you inside the box? Then you could mine all the area they are trying to protect. If enough ppl do this these players would stop seeing value in caging off resources

That’s a good question. I may have to try this next time I go mining. Tho that’ll probably be a few weeks.

Ahhh so sometimes people box in resources to hoard, that is rude lol… The regen bomb, that’s a good idea, be nice if that works, but the spot I’m referring to on serp is literally like 40 plots by 15 or something all dug out underground, nothing built there, just a big empty void where resources will never spawn again. :frowning: I don’t understand why someone would want to do that. Lol

I had to move for extra space anyway so my new workshop/base is in the sky over a diamond hotspot for precisely this reason. If you’re worried about people hoarding actual resources you could do what I did and spend all your spare plots on taking plots above the resource to protect it.

Side benefit: it may trigger new planets if enough do it.

they are usually just hitting the mantle, so we cant try it :frowning:

In the sky is a cool way to do it, you protect the spot without actually ruining the spawn lol I see lots of people doing that for various resources, such as ash/mud on sorissi. I just don’t understand the thinking for plotting underground in the hot spot, you’re effectively making less of the resource spawn on the planet making it that much harder for yourself, and other players to find them.

if they clame a box but not the inside it will regen

I have plotted underground a few plots above mantle. I did this to get closer to the resources I was after (gems). Not sure why anybody would plot mantle unless they are boxingoff unplotted areas… I would love to hear if anybody has a reasonable theory though

Is that just so it’s easier for you to warp to the resource? It doesn’t bother me when I see a couple plots but some of the more massive spaces seem like such a waste, especially the one I’m referring to on serp.

I don’t know - it’d make a nice floor texture if it weren’t so buggy.

It was so that people w/o great tools could access the area easily.

…The area has an opening to the surface too.

Either way it does not matter, its perfectly legal been talked about 10000 times. It isn’t going to change, and if it is frowned upon it is still not against the CoC

I really dont get why people are so mad about this. I did box a hot spot in Malurialakrib with 400 plots to be sure that it would be easy to go mine without bothering finding a good spot. I think it makes the game whole to have person or community able to limit access to ressources in the game. If high end ressource are to easy to find it’s not a chalenging. In the end i think totally the other around what have been said before in this post, everyone of you, go box your spot and control what you can control. If you want to preserve a spot and prevent people from boxing, you can always plot several spots on the surface to reserve underneath. That way person like me wont be able to box a spot. In the end, you can’t just say don’t do it, it’s part of the game.

I plotted and removed a giant box on serp by the gate after that tunnel came to be.

Its above diamond spawn altitude and the beaconed plots are completly cleared out so it wont hinder diggers.

If you go into the copper construct by the gate then theres a portal leading to the mine.

It also has portals to other public mines ive made.

Including one of the insane galan spots.

Gems to the people :fist:t2:

Just out of curiosity, is your account that you used to box it in called “Grasshopper”? Encountered a hotspot in Malurikarib where that person had plotted everywhere, but i placed a plot there a few days earlier while mining, so was able to get in.

no, mine is doomsdayhunter and the way i did it nobody could have prevent it. i plot the surface area i wanted to box first then went underground and made the box. after that i removed my surface plots and made the ceiling. In the end i have a box that goes from bedrock to altitude 33 with all reserved spaces inside. If it makes too much people unhappy i’ll probably remove it though cause thats not what i want. I’m mostly wondering why other people suffer this practice so much. After all, everybody could do the same and everybody wouldn’t have gems by the thousands. And thats not a solo thing, we’re three happy persons to mine in there.

There is actually a way to flatten it
Coils!
