I disagree. The exploits and nerfs are coming from the AOE tools and Teaching Food. Lets pretend (so no one gets in trouble) that I know someone that is above level 50 and can still gain 5+ levels a day using the existing mechanic. And does so regularly. The are not leveling alts, they are leveling their main character. I have seen players with a main character at level 288.
So are you really eliminating the developers perceived issue or just moving it to the main character? My concern is we will continue to have these issue unless the developers go after the source and they will continue to nerf additional paths to xp, which will continue to frustrate a large segment of the player base.
We had bomb mining right? Too many resources people whined. No large amounts of rock, the issue will remain as long as people can power level alts.
That’s my point though, how is it so hard to understand? Alts defeat the purpose of a level cap, your getting everything you want anyways but with micro management up the wazoo.
Power leveling main is for plots, there are so many ways to do it, should we make all actions 0xp?
I think players whined because you got xp for every rock that was blown up even though you did not collect them. That was my issue at least. Players power leveled and never had to touch a resource for the xp. Also if you read through the threads, it got so bad the planets could not regen properly with all the bomb mining. Now could they have addressed that through changes to the regen process? Maybe but they chose a different path.
I understand your point, you can level your main for additional skill sets and James stated he would like to allow for more skill sets, so how is power leveling your main for skills and plots any different from leveling your alt for skills and plots? I know players that are leveling 5 times a day on their level 50+ character so just changing alts will not stop the power leveling.
I have never said this. I think every action should give you some xp even crafting timber to wood. I do not think the 2xp for crafting rock to stone is out of line.
My whole point is that having alts, is the same as having no level cap, its the same but your skills end up being locked.
For now, anyone who doesnt have an alt, getting 0xp for single crafting or bulk crafting is a weird one.
I missed the rock mining stuff, all i remember is that people had too many gems apperently. Did no know it granted xp, but on the same level AOE ca be just as destructive.
Tools are fun, switching constantly to experience ONE game is a bit odd. Most games with alts you only switch to try a new role without effecting your original playthrough.
Hmm maybe even crafting being locked behind skills and not directly behind the machines available power, spark and resources causes alts.
Just saying, this will continue as long as there are alts and how they currently work, it defeats it self.
I… don’t see how this should only feel weird for single char players. It’s the same, regardless. I have only one character. I am no more or less special than the person with 10 characters.
I will agree that alts make it possible to do some extra things much faster. You only really need to get between 20-30 levels on an alt to spec them to some skill sets, and that can be done fairly quickly by normal game play. No additional rock supply needed.
Do I care if someone else has 10 characters? No. it doesn’t effect me in the slightest. Maybe they used it for skills and all that extra stuff. Maybe they did it because they liked the name or wanted a different look or gender. That’s their choice. They had to spend their cubits for that alt, so it’s not free.
Heck, if they added more races I’d probably make some additional characters too. And a name change. I have OCs. I enjoy playing them from time to time, but can’t imagine them as this current character skin.
This is so absolutely wrong in my case. I dunno about anyone else but this game is so unforgiving and grindy and SLOW at the beginning, once i am leveled up (i just got to level 50 last week) THAT’S when the game and the fun starts. Its really too bad they had to drop the nerf hammer so bad, I was probably looking forward to this update the most ever.
I have no issue with alts them selfs, but using a workbench should directly level up your skills or availability in the workbench.
It effects everyone, 0xp for a task effects everyone and i am not liking it. The issue also is that higher level players and the wealthy will still be able to power level.
Were trying to bring new players in yes? Raise the population thus funds of the game. When i first started and to this day. They way we level up our skills is odd.
I would like to use a hammer and that levels up my hammer eventually to a point it recieves an epic if its of higher tier, straight forward, micro management and lots of choices is actually a negative on a persons ability to enjoy them selfs.
Alts, multiple skill pages, odd exchange system, cubits! For plots! Lol a few choices make this game impossible to balance.
Exactly the real fun starts at 50. Though i did enjoy different aspects along the way, i’ve been max level since probably December/January and havent run out of things to do.

If you have nothing against alts, then I suggest you should direct your posts at the actual problem because many of your posts seem to attack the idea of alts.
I think a streamer said it best, he was like hey I need a new character, and within the same stream, he went and made a new character, gave him a pie and access to his base inventory, and that character was level 25 by the end of the stream. It’s kind of a joke.
Meanwhile you get thousands of experience for doing hunts as of like 2 updates ago. When I started you didn’t get that. Reward people for playing the game not eating a pie and logging off.
But the over use of Stone XP was by many in the past emotional pointed.
And a wrong balancing is a bug too.
And the Balancing is very bugged on my opinion.
I can give you one example from the view of a Gatherer and Decorateur and the statement of James about that they want, that every action gives XP.
Whats about placing Grass at a huge place to make it look nice?
It takes masses on time and the placing is slow as hell.
But it gives 0, zero, nothing to my XP!
Beside of it, to collect them is timeasuming aswell.
In my eyes a very disbalance to brainless rockchipping and stonecrafting, so definetivly a bug in their XP system in my eyes.
And this bugs are abused by many players for very long time, so i consider it as an exploit.
